22.01.2022 The view from one of our Collie based offices. Our teams have almost finished construction of the additional trails in the Arklow network. With a few key featur...es to install next week and a little bit of compaction to finish up, it wont be long before the public has access to a great range of new trails. Well done to all 4 construction teams working on the ground to deliver another large project in Western Australia. Special thanks to our site supervisor Deon Baker and our team leaders Gerran Turner, Sam Rubery, Alex Jger, Eric Neal for stepping up to hit this one out of the park. Great job all around! We cant wait to see whats next... Photo by Gerran Turner

21.01.2022 Did you know that Ray the creator of Rays trail never did a good hotlap around his trail, not until 2 years later when he returned on a holiday from Queensland did he have a chance for a flat out, uninterrupted hotlap of his own trail.
21.01.2022 Autumn is the best time of the year to be on the trails, warm days, cool nights. Mornington Glory built last year is settling in well and getting a lot of traffic. The lines are bedding in and hard to miss. With a couple of log rides for the challenge, its a fast flowing and a favorite end to the ride. ... Built by Ryan Booth and Irish from TR Contracting alongside the evergreen local MTBer Laurie Smith. Excellence comes to mind. Post up any pictures or video of riders doing the log rides. My favorite section to end the ride.
20.01.2022 And the new trails (220 return, 7 and 6 now both temporarily called 7 until officially named) have been officially opened by a bevy of politicians, Hon Mark McGowan, Hon Mick Murray, Hon Alannah MacTiernan, Hon Stephen Dawson. Also in attendance was Hon Paul Papalia. Along with a number of our local government representatives, DBCA represenatives, and some riders. Tim

18.01.2022 Update on new Collie trails in Arklow. Arklow is a name Western Australians Riders will get to learn in the near future Wikipedia:... "Arklow (from Old Norse Arnkell-lg, meaning meadow of Arnkell, Irish: An tInbhear Mr, meaning "the great estuary")" In local terms it means "A place of great riding trails", in a forest block just north of Collie. Its only a start but but here is some pics for the die hard riders to get an idea of how good it will get.

The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries has postponed its scheduled tour of Collie due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 14.01.2022 You will notice what look like false little trails on the side with recently built tracks. These are not the beginning of new trails to be built. They are specifically built sections for water run off from the main trail. Water is the biggest destroyer of heavily used trails and must be kept off as much as possible.... Next time you are out for a ride take note of the dips, water run off points, side slope of the path and reverse gradients, ups and downs to help shed water off. All this helps to get shed water and not allow it to build up or gather speed causing deep ruts. All these design features help with keeping the cost of long term maintenance down to a minimum, creating a very robust trail for the long term. Trail builders are highly trained and must follow strict protocol for the high standard of new trails being built. Enjoy

13.01.2022 While the mechanics were busy running through bike theory our Chairperson and some new friends went out for a sneaky ride at nearby town Collie to check out Tra...il 7, Adaptive Arklow and Deadcats. First WA government funded trails that have taken our guidelines into the design and construction process. Some muddy puddles may or may not have been abused during the ride. #adaptive #mountainbiking #mtb #adaptiveMTB #offroadhandcycle #inclusion #Collie #WesternAustralia #Australia @ Rays Trail See more

08.01.2022 From this mornings action. A team were here filming for an up coming promotion of the Collie area. Thanks to those who came out on a chilly morning. Some of the images I took instead of riding. Tim
08.01.2022 Please be aware that the first tabletop on Deadcats has been modified. It currently kicks you more than it used to, and doesnt match the speed that is carried on that section of trail. It should be mellowed out by late friday arvo, just ride it with caution. If you feel like a feature or part of the trail needs to be changed, or improved, please contact the Collie Mtb Club or Erik at Crankn Cycles. There are certain guidelines and paperwork that needs to be followed, otherwise we get a smack and it makes it harder for future funding and approval of new trails and features. Enjoy the perfect weather this weekend, and happy riding

08.01.2022 Rod Annear a seasoned presenter at trails conferences was in Collie recently doing a presentation on the business of trails. Using his trip to Derby Tasmania, A...ustralian Mountain Bike summit as an example of how a town can be transformed into a MTB destination. Everything from increased patronage of pubs to real estate boom was covered. These examples are great lessons to learn from for Collie as it starts to transform itself into a Trails Town. Having experts sharing the knowledge will help the town in not making mistakes that other destination have made in obtaining their goals, as the town ramps up for the mtb tourism industry. Rod Annear : "Collie has all the attributes to become a great trail destination. As more trails are built and more bikes start rolling in to town, business will shift to welcome new visitors. There is still a lot to do, but there are great building blocks; local people with vision, a great environment and commitment from Government. Its going to be a great ride and I cant wait to see Collie come alive as a trail town" Looking forward to the future.
