23.01.2022 Deputies and OCEs vote YES to a Member Assistance Fund The fund will help members who experience hardship while taking industrial action. With this safety net in place, more workplaces can negotiate enterprise agreements. Wins like this have a flow-on effect to improve our industry as a whole ... 23.01.2022 The death of a mine worker in an accident at BHP’s Saraji mine at Dysart in Central Queensland overnight is a tragic start to 2019. 17.01.2022 ACCIDENT PAY DECISION HANDED DOWN TODAY In a disappointing decision the Federal Court declined to overturn the Fair Work decision to slash the Award accident pay by 26 weeks from 78 weeks to 52 weeks. The Federal Court noted your employers argument that reducing accident pay will increase enterprise bargaining. The decision affects anyone injured after 1 November 2018.



16.01.2022 FIGHTING FOR FAIRNESS ON ACCIDENT PAY In the Federal Court today your union challenged the decision to cut your award accident pay from 78 to 52 weeks. Our legal team argued against the decision pointing out the errors in the Fair Work decision. Your employers again argued in support of the decision to cut accident pay.... 12.01.2022 UNION WIN! Increase in FIFO Allowance for QLD BHP members We’re starting 2020 off right with a win for FIFO Staff at Caval Ridge and Daunia BHP mines in QLD. BHP had initially reduced Staff members’ FIFO allowances, despite their contractual entitlements. Following our Union Campaign, BHP have agreed to restore the allowance back to its original $12K per year with back pay. This win will mean millions of for Staff.... Chalk one more up on the board for the good guys.
