15.01.2022 WE DESPERATELY NEED BAKERS!! In lead up to our annual charity match we are holding a cake stall this Saturday 22nd June... these cake stalls are a great way to get our club community recognised and generally we make a lot of profit for our not for profit club so we are kindly asking the public for a little help this year

13.01.2022 Presidents Report On the weekend was the start of the 2019 south west 15s season with the Bunbury Bulls hosting all 4 teams at the Bull Ring. First up was the hosts taking on the Dunsborough Dungbeetles. Bulls rocked up in full force with well over 20 players pulling on the boots for the first sniff of the 15s season with everyone coming out of the woodwork and were extremely hungry to play some very physical hard hitting but well spirited rugby. Dungbeetles sticking to there... well thought structure and set plays pouring their heart and soul into everything they did on the field seemed to pay off with a well earned 29-17 victory over the Bulls Next up was the Collie Mongrels taking on last years premiership winners the Margaret River Gropers. Collie rocked up with only a hand full of players able to step onto the field of battle against the Gropers. But luckily was backed up with some of the Southwests finest gladiators ready to come to the aid of of the struggling Mongrels we managed to throw together a full team. As any thrown together team would we spent the first part of the game figuring out what everyone was doing and who was playing in what position. The Gropers took advantage of the situation almost instantly slaying a few unaware Mongrels and invading over our try line scoring some early trys. Before the end of the the first half we come to realise our strengths and slowly pulled together and started playing rugby in a more suited way to our current setup of players. We come up with a few quick plans and simple strategy to get us through the second half and went in smiling. Things definitely looked better from then on with some awesome rugby played absolutely amazing scrums and hard hitting tackle after tackle we never gave up on the fight. This seemed to only make the Gropers lift spirit even more and turn it up another gear or 2 eventually slaughtering the Mongrels 65-7. The game would have definitely been forfeited and not gone ahead if it wasnt for The other players from other southwest teams for coming and putting their boots on to help us out and we greatly appreciate it. This just shows just how great the rugby community is in the Southwest with helping out any team needing it.

06.01.2022 Presidents Report Round two 04/05/19 With the second round of 15s rugby union season kicking off on the weekend in Collie. Collie hosted all 4 teams for the second time this year. It was a great day of social rugby with everyone in great spirits and willing to help out any team by supporting them with extra bodies on the field. There was a strong positive vibe throughout the teams which makes our small Southwest competition what it is today. Its great to see!... First game was the Bunbury Bulls taking on the Margaret River Gropers. The Margaret River Gropers made the long journey up the hill with 13 players ready to go hard and stay on top of the ladder. Bunbury Bulls rocked up with great force and a well sized team, they definitely meant business. Both teams were reinforced by some keen Mongrels jumping on to the field to help out. The game was an adrenaline filled game with both Margaret River Gropers and Bunbury Bulls running straight and strong with some big hits and bone crunching tackles. There was some magical stepping, weaving and running. It was a great game with the Margaret River Gropers coming from behind to luckily snatch up the game with a win. And last was the hosts Mighty Collie Mongrels against the Dunsborough Dungbeetles. 13 Dunsborough Dungbettles travelled up the hill, ready to give it all they had despite the fact they had no subs. Collie were luckily enough to have some Mongrel players travel all the way from Perth to play. There were a fair few new players who quickly showcased their skills, impressing the crowd. The game started with half the team still recovering from playing the first game and some still swapping jerseys as kickoff took place. The Dunsborough Dungbettles quickly scoring a couple of tries, the Mongrels had some work cut out for them. The Mongrels came up with a game plan on the fly and started playing rugby with true Mongrel style, hitting hard and rolling up straight through the guts slowly digging closer to the try line forcing Dunsbroough to lock in their defensive line like a brick wall. Wave upon wave of Mongrels players come crashing down on the Dungbeetles defence slowly cracking it, by players such as Ramene, Dushuan, Tino, Cameron & Maleko, resulting with Maleko Te Patu Batrop and Jordan Ballantune scoring tries for the Mongrels. Dungbeetles made a few break away runs but with a couple stopped by John Fletcher and Ash Paito, resulting in some of the biggest hits I have ever seen, which soon made Dungbeetles change tactics to a kicking game this eventually paid off with a steady well-earned win over the home side 17 to 46. I would like to say a huge thank to everyone who put on a Collie Mongrels jersey for the day, the club appreciates it very much. Collie will be travelling to Busselton this weekend to play against the Bunbury Bulls for round 3 kick off at 3:30pm. We hope to see you all there.

05.01.2022 Hope to see you there

04.01.2022 The 2019 season kicks off today starting with the Margaret River 10s. Lets go Mongrels!!!
