25.01.2022 As the cold and wet days linger through winter, remember to keep your pet warm, dry and comfortable. Carefully place your pets bed out of the weather and away from draughts, with a dry towel or rug to keep them warm. Coats can also help to protect your dog from the rain and keep them warm. Colder weather can exacerbate arthritis in older pets with stiff joints, so contact us today if you have any health concerns about your pet during winter. With a little TLC, your pet can stay warm and cosy while outside gets wet and cold.

25.01.2022 House plants are a great way to bring life and colour to your home but not all plants are compatible with pets. If youve recently gotten new plants (or a new pet), check this list to make sure they arent toxic: - Lilies (including peace lily and lily flowers) - Oleander - Ivy... - Sago palms - Rubber tree plants - Philodendrons - Lantana See more

Simply contact us on 97341155 to book an appointment thats convenient for you.

22.01.2022 Five tips for calming your furry best mate before bed.. 1 An evening treat - Giving your pup a tasty treat in the evening will help your pet positively associate bedtime with a yummy snack. 2 A safe and comfy place to sleep - Your pet will most likely have a favourite spot theyll sleep in most nights. Ensuring its as comfy and cozy as possible will help them stay snuggled up all night long. ... 3 A snuggle toy - Do you remember your favourite childhood toy? Many dogs also take comfort from a soft toy. Make sure its not a stimulating toy like a pull rope or squeaker and ideally let them only have it at bedtime. 4 A bedtime scent - A quick spray of Adaptyl on their bed or comforter half an hour before bedtime will help your pooch settle down in no time. 5 An evening snuggle - Whether its an ear rub or a cuddle together on the sofa, be sure to spend some quiet time with your pet before bed.

22.01.2022 Some foods are delicious for us humans but very unhealthy for our pets. Steer your pup clear of chocolate, grapes, sultanas, onions, garlic and macadamia nuts, as they are all toxic foods for dogs. If your pet ever eats something and youre unsure if its safe, simply contact us on 97341155 and our team will be happy to help.

20.01.2022 As the weather starts heating up, you might be wondering if you still need to use jackets and coats to keep your dog warm at night. If your dog has a short coat or low body fat, they will be more sensitive to the cold and will benefit from a winter jacket for longer. A good rule of thumb: if you see your dog shivering, or if the temperature is under 10 degrees, they will still benefit from a coat at night.

10.01.2022 ADVICE FOR PET OWNERS ON STORMY WEATHER With stormy weather set to hit us this evening please ensure that your pets are safe and secure. Thunder, lightning and high winds can be very frightening, leading pets to potentially injuring themselves or even escaping from yards and quickly getting lost in a panic. If youre home we recommend closing blinds or curtains as well as turning the television or radio up a little louder than usual. If your cat or dog has a favourite hidin...g place be sure to kit it out with pillows for extra warmth and comfort. Thunder jackets are also very calming for many dogs. If youre not able to be at home then we highly recommend the following video on YouTube, the music is specifically designed to be calming for dogs and is mostly very effective. Turn this up high, make sure your pet is in a secure space with a comfy bed and this will help keep them as relaxed as possible. https://youtu.be/1OHEB41yRdU If you have Feliway or Adaptyl spray at hand try and spray your pets bedding half an hour or so before its needed. This will give them time to relax and settle down before the bad weather hits. Please share and help us keep as many of our pets as calm as possible.

08.01.2022 Is your furry best friend on the list?

08.01.2022 Grass seeds are a common problem during the warmer months. They can lodge in your pet's toes, ears, nose or skin and continue to migrate deeper with your pets general movement. As you can imagine, this can become incredibly painful and at the very least extremely uncomfortable. To help significantly decrease the chances of this happening you should always check your dog after a walk and search between their toes, ears and armpits as well as giving them a general pat down for any rogue seeds.

07.01.2022 Did you know that all cats are born with blue eyes? Only after around eight weeks will they develop their permanent eye colour.

06.01.2022 This little muffin paid us a visit today and took advantage of our current 20% discount on vaccinations (canine and feline) until the end of September. Boo, at twelve years old, also got a senior blood test to check for any problems. As our pets reach their senior years we recommend doing a blood test each year. These can help us pick up on diseases which if found early can often be treated more effectively. Dont forget, at twelve years old hed be well over retirement age in human years and, just like us, he needs that extra care and attention.

06.01.2022 Did you know that exercise isnt just good for your physical health but also your mental health? And its the same for our pets too! Put a spring in the step of your furry best mate by heading out for a walk in this beautiful weather.

04.01.2022 We had a very special visitor recently! This beautiful girl came to Collie Vets as a wee puppy and needed lifesaving surgery. Our team nursed her back to health and once well enough handed her over to the adoption angels at BARRC to find her furever home.... She was BARRCS case, so we named her Perdita, Disney fans please! Okay not 101, but cute, right? Perdy struck so lucky with a new family including another pupper named Rorschach, their insta link and Tik Tok is posted in the comments And her mum is awesome, we loved meeting her! We were so pleased Perdy’s new family brought her in to see us, a year on from when we first met her. We are eternally grateful to BARRC and their volunteers, and those who give fur babies in need a loving second chance. It really joys our team to watch our patients grow and live happy, healthy lives, it’s why we do what we do.
