24.01.2022 April 1st is traditionally a day for jokes, but it’s also a day to remind to change your smoke alarm batteries. With everyone now staying home to flatten the COVID19 curve, reviewing your home’s fire safety with the whole family is a must-do.

14.01.2022 The Bush Fire Brigades within the Shire of Collie are volunteer only, this means that none of the stations are permanently manned. When you see a fire please c...all 000 to report it. This ensures a number of things, 1) The call is acted upon immediately and appropriate brigades are turned out as quickly as possible. 2) YOU are the best person to provide all the information needed by the operators at 000 and answer any questions they have, far better than a second hand reporter that is not on the scene. 3) Anything on Facebook is not a guaranteed way of raising an alarm or getting the Fire Appliances needed to a fire. 4) The quicker we can have Fire Appliances turned out, the greater our chances of containing a fire to something manageable by the local brigades without the need to drain the limited resources of other departments or Shires. your best resource in an emergency is ALWAYS the official DFES website. https://www.emergency.wa.gov.au/

13.01.2022 From all of us from down here at the Collie Fire and Rescue station would like to say a big thank you to Neil and Deb Martin for there generous hospitality for when we attended the Yourdamung Fire. If it wasn’t for your generosity and your lovely cooking and great coffees and cold drinks it kept most of us refreshed and ready to fight the fire. So a big thank you from all of us and hope you enjoy your chocolates in peace out at your lovely home.

11.01.2022 Just a few photos and clips from last nights call out it’s never a dull moment and no job is the same

05.01.2022 Yet again we have more tragic news from the east with the loss of another fellow volunteer firefighter. We feel for the crew, first responders, family and friends for the fallen member.

04.01.2022 It seems that both, some locals and some visitors to Collie, need reminding that we are in the middle of the Prohibited Period, which means,..... any guesses he...re??? If you said "NO FIRES", you would be in the 99.9% who did not get infringements this week. Camp fires have been lit at Stockton, Black Diamond and Wellington National Park.... Household rubbish and garden refuse fires have been lit in Collie.... ....all have received infringements for $250 each. You are NOT permitted to light or maintain fires, at any time of the day, during the Prohibited Period for the Shire of Collie and as demonstrated to last night's offenders, WA Police, Shire of Collie Rangers and DBCA Parks & Wildlife have joined forces in a zero tolerance to breaches of these laws. #CollieCampfire #CanIHaveACampfire #CanWeHaveAFire #FireProhibited #ShireOfCollieCampfire #WellingtonDamCampfire #WellingtonNationalParkCampfire #StocktonCampfire #BlackDiamondCampfire #LakeKepwariCampfire See more

03.01.2022 Collie Volunteer Fire and Rescue are looking for an intact unregistered vehicle or two. This will enable us to provide road crash rescue training and our new members would benefit greatly by being able to participate in simulated training drills. If you have an old vehicle that would fit our purpose and you would be willing to donate to the brigade please PM us.

03.01.2022 Merry Christmas Thank you everyone who donated at the Christmas lights display on Atkinson St Collie!! A massive heart felt thanks goes to Mel and Pus...ky for organizing their display and approaching us in regards to donating. Every year Mel and Pusky do a display and people ask who they are raising money for. This was the first year they collected donations and they asked if they could donate to Variety WA specifically Bash Car 100 as it is a local car. These two people have beautiful big hearts and are constantly volunteering their time and effort to others. The display wound up being a community event with Mel and Pusky’s kids getting involved along with their neighbours and their children. The community engagement and Christmas spirit was overwhelming and to see the looks on the faces of the children visiting was rewarding enough. At last minute Mel decided to enter the Bendigo Bank Collie Christmas lights competition saying Wouldn’t it be funny if we won. As it so happens, they did!! They turned around and donated every cent of the $500 prize money to Variety WA saying The kids need it more than us. On Christmas Eve Pusky stepped it up by getting the crew of Collie Volunteer Fire and Rescue involved, of which he is a Lieutenant, shaking money tins! Collie Police also made an appearance handing out balloons and monitoring traffic as at one point there were cars and kids everywhere. We appreciate everything Mel and Pusky have done and wish to welcome them into our Variety WA family. Thank you Collie for your continued support through 2020!!! You are an amazing town that still boasts the Aussie Spirit!! Total funds raised $ 1,030.65 Variety - the Children's Charity WA #varietywa #varietywa_bashcar_100 #collierivervalley
