17.01.2022 One of our beautiful loyal customers came in today to recommend me a book. Cutting For Stone by Abraham Verghese. She said it was absolutely FANTASTIC! - one of the best books she has picked up in a long time. Marion and Shiva Stone, born in a mission hospital in Ethiopia in the 1950s, are twin sons of an illicit union between an Indian nun and British doctor. Bound by birth but with widely different temperaments they grow up together, in a country on the brink of revolut...ion, until a betrayal splits them apart. But fate has not finished with them - they will be brought together once more, in the sterile surroundings of a hospital theatre. From the 1940s to the present, from a convent in India to a cargo ship bound for the Yemen, from a tiny operating theatre in Ethiopia to a hospital in the Bronx, this is both a richly visceral epic and a riveting family story. 14.01.2022 Another successful First Thursday Book Club meeting last week. Thanks to all the lovely ladies who joined us to discuss The Beloved- which most of us thoroughly enjoyed. Weve decided on next months book- The Engagement by Chloe Hooper (which I have already knocked over in one weekend. I couldnt put it down!). Its an exciting psychological thriller set on a remote Australian cattle farm. I found it unsettling, disturbing and completely compulsive, as well as beautifully written. Cant wait to get my teeth into some discussion about it next month! October 4th, 5.30pm at Rafters. The Engagement is in stock at $29.99, and our Book Club members get a 10% discount. Weve decided to read Courtney Collins The Burial for our next meeting which will be on the 10th of January. 09.01.2022 Thank you to all you lovely ladies who joined us last night for our first Book Club meeting. It was a great success. I hope you all had a fabulous time, I know I did!! It was fantastic to meet new fellow book lovers, to discuss the book, inspire us to read new books (books we may not normally pick up) and have a great time with a delicious cup of coffee. I cannot wait for the next meeting and a new book!

It was great to see a couple of lovely new faces join in the discussion as well- we do love meeting new members. Weve decided on next months title- it will be The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker (link to First Tuesday Book Club discussion at the bottom). Were yet to set the exact date- it may be moved to the second Thursday of the month- but we will update our Facebook page with the so...lid date when we know it.
