25.01.2022 Women's health and pap smear clinic. (New patients welcome during these difficult times - normal consultation fees apply) Thursday 7th May from 8am. In response to the ZERO WA cases for 5 days and no new cases in the Goldfields we would like to offer our patients the opportunity for: Women's health consults requiring face to face (pap smears, Mirena insertions and removals, Implanon removal and insertions, swabs and biopsies, breast exams, pregnancy management including ult...rasounds, dating scans and wellbeing ultrasounds). We are still COVID-19 aware and cautious. Each patient will require a bulk-billed telephone consult with a qualified general practitioner prior to booking a face to face (the GP will book the appointment for you) Normal GP fees apply for face to face consults. Face to Face consults is limited to 10 minutes for the clinical examination. (Any additional matters can be managed by phone) We will run a clinic EVERY THURSDAY from the 7th of May PENDING NO NEW COVID-19 CASES IN THE GOLDFIELDS and increasing to two days per week from the 17th of May. 22.01.2022 Winter is the perfect time to get your top to toe skin check. Fair skin is more susceptible to melanoma and other skin cancers - even in young people. The problem with fair skin is that most people who catch the sun have freckles which can camouflage early skin cancers making them more difficult to detect. 22.01.2022 #handhygeine #cough #flusymptoms This is a reminder that General Practice, and specifically Collins Street Surgery, is not an appropriate place for you to attend if you have respiratory symptoms, despite there being no active cases of COVID-19 in our region. Last year (no COVID) we lost 122 staff days due to illness, nearly all upper and lower respiratory. In 2018 we had two clinicians hospitalised and one that was off work and isolated for nearly 4 weeks including a stay in... the high dependency unit. This year we are down to minimal staff providing face to face consulting due to state border restrictions and international border closures preventing new doctors who had planned to arrive earlier in the year not been able to enter Australia. On Monday Dr Tariq advised that THREE patients presented with URTI symptoms without first advising staff and taking instructions. This is unacceptable and a timely reminder that without the health of the practitioners you have NO MEDICAL SERVICES. There is no place for complacency when we are only potentially a few weeks behind other states in outbreaks. There is no place for lack of forethought or insight into the risk patients pose to both the clinicians, administration staff (we have pregnant staff) and immunocompromised patients who attend our practice. We are asking and insisting: IF you have respiratory symptoms you DO NOT ENTER THE CLINIC Telephone the clinic The Doctor will call you and consult you by phone and make a decision if it is safe to see you If it is not safe you will be directed to the testing services in Kalgoorlie If it is safe the Doctor will arrange: a) a consult in your car, b) in a separate consulting room away from the main practice area c) outdoors We are not turning patients away but making appropriate decisions to keep us all safe, now, and potentially during another outbreak.

21.01.2022 We wish to notify our patients that we have been advised from the Dept of Health WA that no shipments of vaccines will be coming to the Goldfields for two weeks - this means that we have no further vaccines available for GOVERNMENT FUNDED VACCINES apart from those people who have already booked appointments (about 20 in total) We have no access to private vaccines either - with stock orders being requested from us by the private suppliers and the stock not been expected unti...l the end of June. It is VERY disappointing that Kalgoorlie missed out on vaccinating patients. The east coast clinics received their vaccines over 6 weeks ago and have completed their immunisation program WA flu season has commenced. We will not be able to immunise patients soon enough to be covered for the June season peak (it takes two weeks for the vaccine to work) If you have access to a vaccine in different locations (for example if you have essential travel to Perth) or can access childhood vaccines from a clinic in Perth please do so. We cannot change the availability of stock and with the increased demand of the vaccine at the governments push we are still getting lots of phone calls. We now have 7 day per week services available via telehealth and face-to-face from Monday to Friday at the practice. The Telehealth services is an additional service available to all Collins Street Surgery patients. New patients can call the surgery on week-days to register.

03.01.2022 Collins Street Surgery welcomes Nurse Hannah to our team. Many of our patients have already had the pleasure of "meeting" Hannah as she does telephone appointments with them. Our team is growing and next week Nurse June will also start with our team. Dr Dave who was planning to join us in January and delayed because of the virus is planning to be with us by July. We have a growing team of experienced clinicians who will be looking after Collins Street Surgery patients over the coming months.
