This is our gorgeous row of nut trees, the natural aisle, in the first two weeks of September last year. Sometimes spring is just on time, & sometimes, shes fashionably late. 19.01.2022 This time last year was the beginning of that massive cloud of smoke & fire that almost swallowed us whole! At this point, we weren’t worried... Chantel & Pauline just managed to keep their day with this lingering in the background, while our New Years Eve wedding with Gemma & Andrew had to be moved to another venue in Sydney as roads were closed. ... What a disaster! So we thought. Little did we know, COVID-19 was about to rear its ugly head & wipe out almost 50 of our 2020 weddings!! Not to mention the drought & floods in between. What a year! We could look at it all in a negative way, or we can see that if the floods didn’t come in & drench the grounds & fill up our dams, that was so desperately needed, the fire damaged mountains wouldn’t have rejuvenated as quickly. With all our time off because of Covid, we’ve had time to fix the fences from the fires, take things a little slower, spend more time focusing on the important things in life, like each other & let Mother Earth truly heal. Everything happens for a reason, & although truly devastating for so many, our hearts will always go out to them, I for one will be finishing 2020 off knowing that this all happened to teach us a lesson. I just read this & thought it was very fitting; ‘We are being given another opportunity to stitch a new garment. One that fits all of humanity & nature’ . When you reflect back, what is one positive take away? Focusing on the negative doesn’t change what was. There’s always a silver lining. . . . 09.01.2022 It’s getting to meet beautiful people like Vanessa & Eric that make us fall in love with what we do even more. And just by their special words of gratitude can you see just how wonderful they are! .... . ‘We had booked our wedding over a year in advance, so there was a lot of time to get to know the lovely team at Collits Inn. When Covid hit, Caitlin was so reassuring and we felt very supported in what could have been a very stressful time. We had our wedding in late August, and despite having many Covid restrictions to adhere to, we had the most wonderful day. It was so stress free having our ceremony and reception in the same place, and we had access to the property from the day before to do whatever setup we wanted, had a beautiful dinner with my parents and bridesmaids and had the convenience of hair and makeup coming to us on the big day. We didn’t need to pack up until the next morning (although there was very little left for us to do) so we were really able to enjoy the whole weekend. They really went above and beyond with decorating the barn and outdoor seating areas, were very accommodating with our guests’ dietary limitations, and impressively sourced a very specific Spanish beer that we hadn’t been able to find anywhere.
