24.01.2022 As we transition to an impact and purpose-led entity we are excited to announce the official charitable organisation Plate It Forward. What started as a social enterprise restaurant Colombo Social providing employment opportunities to asylum seekers has become way more than we had ever envisioned. Since then our purpose has extended further, with close to 45,000 meals being donated to those battling food insecurity and over 3,200 hours of training, education and employment t...o those who might have otherwise been left out of the employment sector. Plate it Forward is named as such as it allows you to be part of a movement for good and feeding change across our community. Continue to follow us and see the lives of incredible people being enriched through employment and skills and contact us if you have an event or function so you can fuel social change. We are so thankful for each and every one of you for being part of our journey so far and for your ongoing support.

23.01.2022 Colombo Social which opened in Sydneys Enmore in November 2019, has had to close its doors due to the new COVID-19 restrictions in place. But the owners have made a bid to #PlateItForward and make 2,000 meals for the homeless.

It was so great to finally be in the very sacred space that is Tranby National Indigenous Adult Education & Training RTO 90492 ( National Indigenous Adult Education & Training Centre which has been around for over 60 years ) led by dynamic CEO Belinda Russon ( red blouse ) and team. I really enjoyed and learnt so much from Uncle Lex’s Welcome To Country, Smoking Ceremony and Storytelling. Serendib Social Group , @tranbyadulteducation newest tenant, is a social venture initiated by Colombo Social serving up an exciting new path to community connection, social responsibility and economic empowerment for vulnerable peoples. ‘Ability Social’ aims to provide life-changing training programs that empower people to up-skill with experienced chefs and carve out their culinary careers. Thank you Our #plateitforward campaign has only been going for a month and we have managed to donate over 5,600 meals to those identified as the most at risk which includes the Elderly Aboriginal community in Redfern, those in social housing in Camperdown, asylum seekers across Sydney and others. Donations are still open and now is the time to come together, whilst being kept apart, and to do what we can to look out for our neighbours. Together we can showcase the positive aspects of human nature that a crisis brings to light.
