25.01.2022 Council say and Fisheries would say they aren't responsible for the damage done by the power station, Well I beg to differ!

25.01.2022 The predicted excessive heat for next few days are going to impact on our wildlife. Please do what you can to help them.

20.01.2022 "How good is getting a dirt cheap power station!?" said a Liberal Party political donor!

19.01.2022 The Boatshed at The Entrance - council to look at re-directing left-over Ettalong dredging funding. Cr Best asks for: Council to urgently carry out a foreshore ...clean up around the boatshed down to the eastern end of Memorial Park. And, that Council seeks to redirect if possible surplus funds from the Brisbane Water Dredging Program also any federal or state govt funding opportunities that may be available. And that Council request the CEO urgently report all aspects of this issue for council’s consideration. Cr Pilon adds the CEO to pursue all funding options and to seek advice from crown land on the best way to proceed with maintaining long term sustainable access for boating. The Mayor also has an amendment: She says she has been out there and been liaising with staff. And she met with MP Adam Crouch. Her amendment’s points are added to the original and it includes a roundtable of experts and stakeholders meeting regarding an ongoing strategy to keep the channel open and accessible for the community. Cr Smith asks about the Ettalong funds and whether it is needed for the maintenance of the Ettalong channel. A staffer has to check. And she asks if keeping the The Entrance channel open for boating is part of the Tuggerah Lakes Estuary Management Plan and the staffer has to double check that too. She also gets the wording of the council noting the boatshed changed from will close to may close. Cr Smith gets the words about the sustainable access for boating to include in line with the previous dredging profile. Director Cox explains there are limits to where the dredging can take place. Cr Sundstrom says the problem with the motion is that it is focused on one business only. It is a matter that needs urgent attention but it is for the benefit of all. The CEO agrees it is a consideration and Cr Sundstrom gets the focus widened a bit so the round table doesn’t include the owners of the boatshed by n ame. The Mayor says they are stakeholders so they will be invited to attend as will any other stakeholder. Now Cr Vincent has questions. Most staff have left as it is 10.53pm. Cr Best wants to close debate. He has tried to be amenable to everyone so it’s a dog’s breakfast of a motion, he says. All the amendments get passed. It is unanimous. At 10.20pm: Mayor talked about meeting needing to be extended until 11.30pm. Next Best motion is to thank staff for their work. Cr MacGregor seconds it. Cr VIncent says its beginning to look a lot like Christmas because Cr macGregor and Best have agreed on something. Cr McLachlan stands and says he opposes it, he wants to apologise to staff. Everyone laughs. They vote: unanimous. Earlier: Also the Missing Munmorah Sk8park report coming after another Cr Best motion wins support. He wants an update/report on this conflicting situation, in the event that this project is stalled, the 2019 project allocation funds be preserved and reported into the 2020/2021 budget. No-one opposed, only Cr Mehrtens abstains for some reason.

11.01.2022 What is in the sediment now?

11.01.2022 As far as the asbestos goes, I probably got dusted. I've got marks on my lungs, and I keep a check on that. If you've got it, you've got it, and you can't do anything about it. On the turbines the asbestos was very thick, and we'd dig it off with a pick, and then blow it all off with the air! It was everywhere. And it was the same at Vales Point. I remember going to a lecture once at ... I think it was Vales Point. It was a time when asbestos was a really hot topic - it was v...Continue reading

04.01.2022 Love this photo. Lake Munmorah was said to be a different water body to the rest of the lake it was like a dam that flowed into the original winding Budgewoi C...reek. Lake Munmorah was fed by Colongra creek and the surrounding wetlands which were fed from Mannering lake and the Wattagans, and the aquifer at Lizzy Bay. From all information researched Budgewoi creek always flowed North to South, only huge king tides ever encroached Lake Munmorah. After the power station was built the flow was changed to cool the power station and the lake changed to suit, the current from the aquifer was sucked up by the power station and never made it to Budgewoi creek and Colongra wetland was completely poisoned or nuked as they called it and a dammed and made into a dump for the power stations bi-products and other waste. This dam is much higher than the lake and almost 8 years after the power station has ceased operation still leeches into Lake Munmorah every day and will forever. The aquifer has returned and the flow has run continually North to South through Budgewoi creek again since the power station ceased, this is cleansing the lake and the Jellyfish and Shellfish are also making a great return.
