25.01.2022 To all a merry Christmas and a wonderful 2020 from all at Colonial Park. On a personal note this year has been one of the hardest years in my lifetime, firstly having to make the decision to place Tony in a nursing home after years of being his full carer and having him here if advise was needed for the horses, the property in drought and having to pay an arm and a leg for hard feed and hay if you could get it. To add to this having to put many of our older horses down many i...n their thirties. May- saw Colonial Hot and Handsome put down after a short illness a very sad time a one in a million horse, and unable to tell Tony as it would have broken his heart, in July my Tony passed on after a very long illness leaving a very big hole in my life, thank goodness for family and friends who have been looking after me since. My year has been bad but my heart goes out to all the families who have lost everything in the terrible fires and the farmers with the on going drought, the animals that have lost their lives in the fires and the ones that have had to be put down due to no feed or water. I pray that the new year brings rain for the whole of the country and happiness to all. Di See more

25.01.2022 It's 4am in the morning unable to sleep just going over in my mind the up and downs of the past 10 months losing both my wonderful horse Colonial Hot and Handsome in June 2019 ,July the same year saw my Tony die leaving a big hole in my heart after being his full carer for the past 5 years. Getting through his birthday in September, my birthday in November, we would have been married for 48 years on the 9th December then Christmas plus all the time the country is in the worse... drought in history, next it felt like the whole of NSW was on fire, if that wasn't enought came the floods and the coronavirus, and again my heart was broken losing my little brother a few weeks back aged only 69 after a long illness. With all that I found so many of my dear friends have been there for me the whole time, i have reconnected with old friends after many years and my daughter, son-in-law, and close family have been wonderful. Colonial Park is still a going concern with many new horses and owners coming in, plenty of beautiful horses for sale, also Brae Galaxy standing at stud, after having no feed in the paddocks and feed, hay costing the earth now it's lovely and green and loads of pick for the horses. The future looks brighter now I have a date for my hip replacement surgery the 1st of April and I've been told I won't know myself once its done. With a bit of luck it won't be long and there will be more Colonial Park horses out there competing once again making a difference. Di Stanley See more

25.01.2022 Morning everybody, just a quick update on whats been happening at Colonial Park since my last message, to start with on the 7th April I was kicked in the knee by the quietest oldest horse on the property just a soft kick but in the wrong place, I spent 15 days in John Hunter Hospital the first 6 days nothing could be done the knee so swollen, then big op to put in plates and screws, I've been home now but no weight bearing for 8 weeks. The worse part I was booked to have a hi...p replacement on the 1st April and that was cancelled due to the virus and this happen a few days later and its the good leg. Thank goodness for beautiful friends who have stepped up and moved in to look after me as my family wasn't able to travel. The stud and agistment is still going ahead with help and I must say a big thank you to everybody who rang or left messages ,I'm on the mend, the virus looks like it could be on its way out better times ahead. Thanks to everybody xx di See more

25.01.2022 Writing this back in John Hunter after having the long awaited hip replacement on the 22nd July all went well with the op but having trouble with my blood pressure, the nurses tried to get me sitting on the chair next to the bed but the blood pressure went down to 72 and I was feeling really bad and nurses came from everywhere put me back into bed. I'm hoping this will be the last op for some time after having my right eye done on the 10th July, an iron infusion on the 9th pl...us putting up with my left leg where I was kicked by a horse on the 7th April and the stay in John Hunter plus the op to put in plates and screws in the knee , only just able to walk with the help of a walking stick.been so lucky to have great friends move in to look after me and the horses, twice my daughter and sister have been up to stay cleaning the house and stables etc throwing out anything that look like it's had it, rugs, feed boxes, furniture I had to keep moving or I would have been put out. My son -in-law spent days fixing a pile of little jobs that had to be done around the farm not forgetting my bother-in-law pat fixing problems in the bathroom last time he was up everything, has to be up hill from now on. I wish everybody the best and take care stay safe from this terrible virus DI See more

01.01.2022 I would like to thank our loving familes and dear friends for making my Tony's day very special, the flowers, messages and feeling of love and warmth in the barn was felt throughout. The help I received all week was wonderful from Brian, Tracy, Rae, Noel and Sue, Chris and Allison, the painter's finishing the house a few hours before the funeral. The surport from my Toni and her husband Adrian, plus our grandkids, beautiful Annie and my little sister, brothers and their famil...ies I can't put into words. The beautiful words spoken at the service by our son-in-law Adrian, granddaughter Corrina and Heath Ryan I thank you all. Many came from quite a distance to send Tony off and was really appreciated, I'm sure he was up there looking down on us all saying what was all the fuss about. My home smells and looks like a flower shop, plus all the cards and messages are beautiful. Once again many thanks Di See more
