Haamiah suggests that we stay present in our daily routines so that we can connect more easily with the Divine in everything we do . We can do this by perceiving our daily routines not as chores but as rituals. Rituals asks for more attention and care , understanding why we do things. For example I have added a daily ritual because of the covid pandemic, to give me a feeling of I have control in my life and that I am doing something practical to keep me safe. I massage essential oils with a carrier oil on my body. I know why I am doing it, to keep my immune system healthy. And to feel in control, safe and protected. Do not do your daily routines just for the sake of doing things because we have to or our family does it, or it is expected of us. It has to come from the heart. Even the boring every day things will become interesting when we put meaning into it. Boring routines can become more exciting if at times we do things differently. For example dedicating the day to saying or doing positive things. You could also dedicate the day in doing something that is out of norm. Familiarity keeps us safe and at times boring with no meaning; but doing things differently opens us up to different possibilities. Life becomes adventurous and we find meaning in our lives.
