24.01.2022 Final touch ups and cleaning up is important. Making sure that the area's where welding and grinding is required for installation are cleaned and coated, equally as important is cleaning the job site. little pieces metal shaving left behind will rust and strain.

23.01.2022 The next stage was the stair balustrade. After waiting for the marble treads to be layed, we did the box out (the shell). We prefer to do it this way so we know it fits back in perfectly. All of our work is finished to a high standard and quality. This balustrade was made to an extremely fine quality as required with attention to details like square corners, hidden welds, hand filing and sanding, alot of man hours went in to achieve this.

22.01.2022 This is how we start to build our balustrade. To ensure that it fits back in prefect, the shell is made on the stair. The surfaces of stairs, upstand and floor did not need to be covered as these are not finished.

22.01.2022 Installing wrought iron grills on timber doors with fixed glass. Having the wrought iron grills removable is important to allow easy access to clean the glass. These grills are hinged and have internal release fixings that still provide security. All these wrought iron pieces are for the one project.

21.01.2022 Cor-ten sheet steel was used in this job to achive the rust finish, with the pattern was laser cut. To create contrast the backing sheet on the driveway gate was left black. An additional 50 mm mesh is used on the fixed side panel to allow a vine to grow on it.

21.01.2022 When renovating your house, changing the balustrading can make a stunning transformation. Even dark wrought iron work can make the area look lighter and more open while still retaining is strength. On this project the new owners wanted to breakup the timber work...have most removed. Also they had concerns that the wider spacing on the balustrade didn't conform to the latest regulations. When renovating, you need to check if the new works are in line with regulations in your state. Here are some before and after photos from a recent project.

20.01.2022 Here is our latest in install, We just put up the juilet balconys this morning, fences and gates still to come. We have also done the geometric stair balustrade.

18.01.2022 All ready to install.

18.01.2022 Side gates with that extra added wow factor...just because they are on the "blind" side... dosnt mean that it can't look just as good as your main feature front gate. For that extra secuirty, you have choice if either a solid backing sheet or a woven mesh. With this gate we've put half height stainless mesh to help prevent the pets from escaping

17.01.2022 Big install at lansell rd, one of two homes. Garage door, driveway and pedestrian gates and fence panels.

17.01.2022 Hawthorn town halls widows walk all done, here are some before and after photos. The balustrade was so deteriorated that it fell apart as we were working on it. There was entensive repair work done. Repairing and replacing sections. Sandblasting, and rebuilding all the panels. Over the years 3 of the 4 finials had gone, We used the last surviving finial as a pattern to cast more.

17.01.2022 Another Job done, from one of our earlier post, the Left driveway gate completed with a custom built tiltiing hinge, by colour Earth Wrought Iron.

17.01.2022 Final stages is installation. Always trying to kerp panels as big as possible...to minimize welding joints. Manually carrying finished pieces into place, involving lots of man power. Welding and touching up the joints for a quality finish.

15.01.2022 Job done, outside and in. Wrought iron doesn't always need to be full scroll work, something simply stated but well done still makes a statement.

14.01.2022 These wrought iron door grills had to be front mounted because there was no rebate for for them to fit into.

13.01.2022 Last install for the year. Sandstone and limestone aren't strong enough to support any weight, there needs to be a lot of prep work done before the bricking can start. Thank you all for you support, have a merry Christmas and happy new year.

13.01.2022 Second day of installation, Garage door and gates ready for automation. Fence panels are in, next will be locks, latches, custom made letter box and then touch ups.

12.01.2022 We built and installed these gates to suit under ground gate closers, beening hidden below the ground it gives the gate a clean look from both sides. They can easily take the weight and size of these gates.

10.01.2022 Here is view of the top of the tower. Jeff and Stuart volunteered to go first. Its was worst then what we thought, the bolts were so rusted they had to cut it out..

10.01.2022 On this project due to weight of the balustrade , we had to make the balustrade in different stages. First stage the void This was accomplished by putting the void in as panels and the handrail on top in full sections last.

10.01.2022 Next stage, setting the shell up in our work shop, adding the pattern work. The patterns are custom hand made in house and shaped to fit. At this stage we invite the clients to come in, inspect layout and make any tweaks if required

08.01.2022 Something with a more modern/ contemporary look , far removed from the classical ornate. Still in keeping with a grandourdiur look of elegance with a modern touch. To see more of our work, visit our newly launched website: cewi.com.au

08.01.2022 New installation.

08.01.2022 Here is one of your latest projects just as we finished installing the balustrade. We also made and installed the sky light, its size 3.5 mt by 2.5 mt makes a stunning center peice to the stairs case.

07.01.2022 Starting to dismantle the old balustrade, on the job... a couple of galahs with onlooking corolla's. NOTE: This was a few weeks ago, before masks were required. Also the birds were exempt from the spectators social dictance rules.

07.01.2022 New clients ....old job. Bought the house loving the Wrought iron work...but never knowing who had produced it. In contacting us to have Wrought iron produced for their new house currently underway. They were delighted to find out that we had designed & produced the Wrought Iron in the house they currently live in and would love to have in their new house. Below are photos of our work we did on their home 18 plus years ago...has stood the test of time, in its elegance and as a main feature of the house.

07.01.2022 Telescopic wrought iron gates manufactured and installed by Colour Earth Wrought Iron. Glides open effortlessly, carrying the weight of wrought iron with ease

07.01.2022 All in, just finishing the joins and securing down.

06.01.2022 Installation of a gate. Pedestrian gates with wide entrances can be made as two gates or one with side panels. We perfer a single gate as its less problematic Over time.

04.01.2022 One of our current project, The repair and refurbishment of the widows walk balustrading on top of the Hawthorn town hall. Done in 1880 the cast iron panels are brittle and have lost quite a few sections. Being a heritage listed building there are a few challenges. Getting the work as close as possible to its original condition, in the shortest amount of time and its 8 stories up.

03.01.2022 Handrail now attached. Touch ups are completed, which took longer then usual due to using a metallic electro dark bronze paint instead of a black base. Doors and handles were also designed and manufactured by Colour Earth Wrought Iron.

03.01.2022 One of our projects in the earlier days, this goes back 15 years. Wrought iron is as popular now as it was then, great designs will last the test of time. As it has over many centuries.

02.01.2022 We did a stair balustrade for this client 15 years ago. This front door entrance is a new installation. We couldn't hinge our wrought iron doors off the aluminium door frame as it wouldnt be able hold it. We made a full steel frame to hinge off. The two side light panels are hinged to make cleaning accessible. There isn't any fly screen mesh on this door.

01.01.2022 Last stage! The big install, we decided to keep the stair balustrade as one length, at 5 mt long and 350kg (Without the handrail). It took 10 guys to lift it in place, with some assistance from tradies on the job site it went in easy. Also on the same day we fitted two driveway sliding gates and two side gates, over 2.5 tonnes of wrought iron work. All in a days work and it all fitted perfectly thanks to all our crew
