25.01.2022 Love the light coming through into the shower from the private balcony garden. Dream shower.

25.01.2022 Typical historic home in Melbourne burbs. Looks great, right? Especially with those roses in bloom! Clients have an active young family with a clean and crisp aesthetic to the internals, so wanted to update the colours of the external home to be a bit more contemporary, but still complimentary to the older home. I think we nailed it (second pic) and more importantly, client loves it. The home now reads as more cohesive from front door to back.

24.01.2022 More home/work space inspiration in the stunning Parisian apartment with a timber boomerang shaped desk. Repost from @ashleytstark

23.01.2022 Insurance is a topic that comes up often amongst Designers. For my business I have a policy through the KBDi but check out whats right for you.

23.01.2022 With Victorias covid numbers suddenly higher than ever we need to consider our workfromhome safe-space as a very viable option, if its at all possible. Whether your space is light and bright, multi-purpose, or custom built. Images from #workfromhomelife

23.01.2022 View from my office today: on site for client in Melbourne CBD looking out over the balcony to a fabulous rooftop mural below.

22.01.2022 Garden pond and lighting completed - a little frog couldnt wait and jumped right in this morning, while we were still levelling the urn.

22.01.2022 Friday afternoon thoughts: The Quarantini Repost from U.S. Kitchen and Bathroom group.

22.01.2022 Fireplace finally installed in my own home - how Ive missed sitting being mesmerised by the flames on a cold Melbourne night. Perfect pick-me-up whilst being stuck in lockdown.

21.01.2022 Excited last night to see the rhinos up close and personal at Werribee Park Zoo Night Safari. So much bigger than I thought they would be!

21.01.2022 Circles were a repeat theme in this much applauded Interior Designers own home in the burbs of Melbourne. An old Dairy converted into a light filled and stylish home with garden views at every turn, were cleverly conceived and executed within the industrial buildings shell.

20.01.2022 After spending months looking at the world from the safety of our inside spaces it is now becoming safe to venture further. Not quite as far as this pic from Japan, but I remain optimistic for future travels.

19.01.2022 My niece is beside herself missing her best friend. In the Seaford area.

19.01.2022 Mid-century Modern: my personal style. Its such a treat to find locally crafted treasures which have lasted through the decades and remind us to see the beauty in the details.

19.01.2022 Making hand blown glass selections @mdouglassdesign is difficult as they are all so beautiful.

18.01.2022 Somewhere in Tuscany you think? No, this is our very own Pietro Gallo Estate in Warrandyte, Vic. sharing a lovely xmas lunch with fellow KBDi Vic Committee members at Olivigna Restaurant.

18.01.2022 Mid Century is my personal favourite decor: bakelite telephone, milk glass vases, Barsony figures, Nonnas radiogram, painting by Mo.

17.01.2022 Client delivery this week (yes, we are still working - with safe practices) to compliment the previously installed huuuge tv, which needed a substantial ETU (entertainment unit) but one that wouldnt compete with clients also huuuge artwork. @colour_confidenceinterior custom designed this Victorian Ash ETU to co-ordinate with the clients existing Vic Ash dining table. The (also large) yellow-beige rug from @armadilloandco lightens the dark timber floors and compliments the furnitures straw toned timber. In open plan spaces we need to consider the relationship between items, proportions and tone to create the best outcome. #etu #entertainmentunit #hugetv #vicash #armadillorugs

16.01.2022 RETIRED SURGEON Sam Laucks, has this to say about wearing masks: OK, heres my rant about masks: I have spent the past 39 years working in the field of surgery.... For a significant part of that time, I have worn a mask. I have worked with hundreds (probably thousands) of colleagues during those years, who have also worn masks. Not a single one us of became ill, passed out or died from lack of oxygen. Not a single one of us became ill, passed out or died from breathing too much carbon dioxide. Not a single one us of became ill, passed out or died from rebreathing a little of our own exhaled air. Lets begin here by putting those scare tactics to rest! (It is true that some people, with advanced lung diseases, may be so fragile that a mask could make their already-tenuous breathing more difficult. If your lungs are that bad, you probably shouldnt be going out in public at the present time anyway; the consequences if you are exposed to Covid-19 would likely be devastating.) ~ But, you ask, cant viruses go right through the mask, because they are so small? (Masks keep viruses out just as well as a chain link fence keeps mosquitoes out, some tell us.) It is true that individual virus particles can pass through the pores of a mask; however, viruses dont move on their own. They do not fly across the room like a mosquito, wiggle through your mask like a worm, or fly up your nose like a gnat. The virus is essentially nothing more than a tiny blob of genetic material. Covid-19 travels in a CARRIER the carrier is a fluid droplet- fluid droplets that you expel when you cough, sneeze, sing, laugh, talk or simply exhale. Most of your fluid droplets will be stopped from entering the air in the room if you are wearing a mask. Wearing a mask is a very efficient way to protect others if you are carrying the virus (even if you dont know that you are infected). In addition, if someone elses fluid droplets happen to land on your mask, many of them will not pass through. This gives the wearer some additional protection, too. But, the main reason to wear a mask is to PROTECT OTHERS. Even if you dont care about yourself, wear your mask to protect your neighbors, co-workers and friends! ~ A mask is certainly not 100% protective. However, it appears that the severity of Covid-19 infection is at least partially dose-dependent. In other words, the more virus particles that enter your body, the sicker you are likely to become. Why not decrease that volume if you can? What have you got to lose?! ~ But doesnt a requirement or a request to wear a mask violate my constitutional rights? Youre also not allowed to go into the grocery store if you are not wearing pants. You cant yell fire in the Produce Department. Youre not allowed to urinate on the floor in the Frozen Food Section. Do you object to those restrictions? Rules, established for the common good, are component of a civilized society. ~ But arent masks uncomfortable? Some would say that underwear or shoes can be uncomfortable, but we still wear them. (Actually, being on a ventilator is pretty darned uncomfortable, too!) Are masks really so bad that you cant tolerate them, even if they will help keep others healthy? ~ But wont people think Im a snowflake or a wimp if I wear a mask? I hope you have enough self-confidence to overcome that. ~ But wont I look stupid if I wear a mask? Ive decided not to dignify that question with an answer!! ~ But I never get sick; Im not worried. Well, then, wear a mask for the sake of the rest of us who are not so perfect! There is good evidence that masks make a real difference in diminishing the transmission of Covid-19. Please, for the sake of others (and for the sake of yourself), wear your mask when in public. It wont kill you! P.S. - And, by the way, please be sure that BOTH your nose and mouth are covered! Recommendations around mask usage are confusing. The science isn't. Evidence shows that masks are extremely effective to slow the coronavirus and may be the best tool available right now to fight it. 14.01.2022 This week I proudly accepted the Fay Cooper Memorial Award. It means all the more being voted as a worthy recipient by a group of my professional peers. I like to think Fay would be proud of us Designers supporting and encouraging each other to be the best we can and supporting each other in our endeavours. Together we are stronger and offer a unified voice to clients and suppliers alike. Thank you to Melbourne Designers Group for acknowledging my efforts. Looking forward to sharing another year beside you.

14.01.2022 Celebrating Mothers Day with a Chai package by @mixedbagmelb Ive already decanted the Chai Dust into my vintage amber @bormioliroccoit glass canister. Let the brewing begin. #chaitea #chaidust #bormioliglass #soychailatté #mothersday2020

14.01.2022 The weekend always turns my attention to the green of the garden and long walks around the sanctuaries and national parks we are blessed with all around us in Melbourne. #colourconfidenceinteriors #verdi #greenisgold

13.01.2022 Wrought iron Security door by Colour Confidence Interiors also adds a decorative element and style to a fairly ordinary timber Entry door. Thanks to Glen in Melbourne for his fabulous manufacturing, installing and service. Contact me for his details.

13.01.2022 I wonder at what stage Art will start reflecting life as it is atm - social distancing, masks, self isolation, more digital art? Or for that matter Advertising and how our tv watching will change?

13.01.2022 I love to specify bluestone for clients but the finish also needs to be carefully considered for the specific application. Shown here are 4 different finishes. #bluestone #fireplacetile #pavingideas #claddingstone

12.01.2022 The details become more important when youre faced with them everyday. Do you have pleasing vignettes or displays which can be changed to vary your decor?

10.01.2022 Stuff of the imagination: Individual leaves made out of copper and attached one by one to create a 3D feature wall, as seen @perinitiles Not cheap, but so pretty! Im a sucker for patinated metals.

10.01.2022 Old building interiors in the CBD are fascinating. Lifts out of an old movie and corridors of tiled walls and timber doors, each one housing a small business supplier or creative behind. All a bit surreal and magical.

09.01.2022 DESIGN WITH CONFIDENCE

08.01.2022 Ombre curtains, blue floor rug, blue/grey painted to wall insets: all combine to inject some life into this previously small grey office for our clients. Furniture yet to come. #colourconfidencei teriors #melbournedesigner #interiorsmelbourne #windowtreatments #floorrug #colourselections #workfromhome #sfoldcurtains #sfoldsheers #blue #decoratewithblue

07.01.2022 Rescued this old frame on our last country weekend away (must have been last year!) and today I finally got around to cleaning, lacquering and mounting with a print bought many years ago from one of my favorite galleries, the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. Madonna replaced with ‘The Threatened Swan’ by Jan Asselijn 1610.

07.01.2022 I love sunny weekends in my garden, especially when it’s ready for spring, with pops of purple (for the Suffragettes) and orange (my happy colour).

07.01.2022 Some more last minute pre-stage 4 lock-down selections for Builder client. Co-ordinating mask:check!

05.01.2022 Quilt by talented M.I.L., paintings by Mo, timber bed with storage drawers under and suspended bedsides designed by CCI. I like to change up the look of my bedroom seasonally. #bedmade #tealwall #foodogs #whitebedsheets

05.01.2022 Are you still working from home? It may be your new preferred way to work ( I know it is for me). Or you could be missing the structure and organisation which a work office can provide - perhaps someone else takes care of all the details and you just turn up to work and do your thing? How are you working from home?

05.01.2022 Spending some downtime (lots of it atm) looking at details and finding beauty in smaller objects. Things which can act like jewels adorning your room - feel good treasures, telling stories of travels or distant times and places.

04.01.2022 Another beautiful Barsony girl for my collection. Yay!

01.01.2022 I just wanted to shed some light on this subject: The challenge is to post a black and white photo of yourself, or a woman you admire, and challenge other women to do the same, then hashtag challengeaccepted. It is about women empowering women and started as a way to highlight the femicide happening in Turkey. Turkey experiences one of the highest rates of women murdered by lovers. The government does little to stop it. The black and white photos comes from the fact that there is a black and white image of a murdered woman in the newspaper everyday. #ChallengeAccepted #blackandwhite #womensupportingwomen # #nooneshoulddiefromlove

01.01.2022 Client delivery complete with a custom display unit and this extra large tall-boy in the lovely honey-tones and distinctive markings of solid Marri timber. It weighs a ton but the finger pulls and full extension heavy weight runners make the drawers easy to use. No excuses to not be organised with socks and jocks now!
