17.01.2022 Our book for this month is, The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams. It looks like an interesting idea for a book, with anyone who is enthralled by words and their etymology (did I phrase that correctly?), this might just be the book for you. I have read one chapter and it has had me thinking of the film, The Professor and the Madman, of which was released this year - it's about the making of the Oxford dictionary... and it has one of the same characters. Well worth a watch. https://www.goodreads.com//49354511-the-dictionary-of-lost Our penultimate meeting for the year, will be on Wednesday, 11th November, at the Colyton Neighbourhood Centre from 4:30pm. Looking forward to seeing you!

11.01.2022 Boy Swallows Universe by Trent Dalton is the book to read this month. One review described this story as, 'Oliver Twist meets The Godfather'. Let's see what a tale this is. https://www.goodreads.com//show/37558445-boy-swallows-univ Colyton's Community Neighbourhood Centre's renovations are almost complete, and will hopefully be ready for our August Book Club meeting. I will let you know when we can next meet.

09.01.2022 This Wednesday will be the second Wednesday of the month, and that means it is time for our Book Club gathering. I hope you can make it to the Colyton Neighbourhood Centre on 11th November at 4:30pm. See you on Wednesday!

07.01.2022 Do you want to do something a bit different? There is a project is called 'Dear Tree' happening in Penrith! It is a listening experience; a collection of people's responses to trees, acknowledging and contemplating the position of nature within our lives. Originally it was designed to be enjoyed by groups at festivals whilst lying beneath a tree, but this project has now been adapted for these pandemic times.... You can record a short spoken word piece, beginning with the words, 'Dear Tree'. It can be a conversation, a poem, a song, an affirmation, a blessing, anything. It's fun to do whilst sitting and relaxing under your favourite tree. Once recorded, it can be sent to artist Rose Turtle at [email protected] For more info: http://www.roseturtleertler.com/dear-tree.php
