25.01.2022 Face masks are effective protection only when used in combination with frequent hand-cleaning with alcohol-based hand sanitiser or soap and water. If you wear a mask, then you must know how to use it and dispose of it properly. 1. Before putting on a mask, clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water. Cover mouth and nose with mask and make sure there are no gaps between your face and the mask.... 2. Avoid touching the mask while using it; if you do, clean your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water. 3. Replace the mask with a new one as soon as it is damp and do not re-use single-use masks. 4. To remove the mask: remove it from behind (do not touch the front of mask); discard immediately in a closed bin; clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water. Were doing a series of posts to keep everyone informed, so check back to stay up to date and share the knowledge! Cheers - Howard, Veronica, Nhi, Caitlin and everyone at Colyton Centre Pharmacy

21.01.2022 Protect your loved ones and yourself! Stay healthy by washing your hands often, following these five steps every time; 1. Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap. 2. Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails. 3. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the Happy Birthday song from beginning to end twice, or check out... our song list below! 4. Rinse your hands well under clean, running water. 5. Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them. Which song will you choose?

18.01.2022 IS SOMEONE YOU KNOW AT RISK OF OVERDOSE? Come in and talk to us today Naloxone reverses the effects of an opioid overdose - it's a highly effective FREE antidote that allows people to breathe normally again. Dr Harrod from the NUAA says it's reasonable for any person, especially loved ones of drug users, to carry naloxone. It would be fantastic if everyone carried it. It's a decent, good samaritan thing to do.

17.01.2022 As many know, we've been running a "Special Cause" raffle in the pharmacy. Congratulations Maryanne Burcham, the lucky winner! But this time there's a twist - Lorraine, seen here drawing the winner, is totally unaware she IS our special cause! Darling Lorraine lost her home and most of her possessions in an electrical fire and has been doing it tough, so a big THANK YOU to all the good people of Colyton New South Wales Australia 2760 who helped out! ... A special shout-out to Mr Frank Horvat, the neighbour who heroically helped rescue Lorraine from the fire. Amazing stuff! Go Colyton!

16.01.2022 HOT TIP: Hand dryers do not kill Covid-19 To protect yourself against the new coronavirus, you should frequently clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitiser or wash them with soap and water. This is the important part! Once your hands are clean, dry them thoroughly using paper towels or a warm air dryer.... Were doing a series of posts to keep everyone informed, so check back to stay up to date and share the knowledge! Cheers - Howard, Veronica, Nhi, Caitlin, Kelvin and everyone at Colyton Centre Pharmacy

15.01.2022 You might have seen this passed around on social media. Well what they're saying about ibuprofen and COVID-19 is completely FAKE; even the Medical University of Vienna mentioned called it "fake news". If you need Advil, Nurofen or any other brand of ibuprofen, and have no other reasons to avoid it such as pregnancy, asthma, kidney disease or gastric issues, you go right ahead! Let us know if you have any questions, and remember you can find out more here: www.mcapharmacy.com.au

05.01.2022 Nicholas' life changed when his volunteer Pyjama Angel Michelle came to visit him. For 3 years, she has been the constant person in his life who mentors, supports and encourages him to reach his dreams and goals. Pyjama Angels read books aloud with their child, play educational games and help children with homework. Most importantly, the volunteers give a foster child a chance to reach their life potential despite a fragile start. Please give what you can, to make a positive, life-long impact for a child like Nicholas in care: https://the-pyjama-foundation.giveeasy.org//morris-care-p/

05.01.2022 There is NO EVIDENCE that companion animals/pets such as dogs or cats can be infected with Covid-19. The Pomeranian who tested a weak positive in Hong Kong? It showed no signs of illness or actual infection. It could well have picked up the germs from a surface contaminated by its sick owner, without actually contracting the disease, the same way a table could. In any case its always a good idea to wash your hands with soap and water after contact with pets, to protect yours...elf against various common bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella. But Covid-19 is certainly no reason to abandon or destroy your dog. This post is part of a series on a Covid-19. Keep checking back to protect yourself with knowledge and pass it on! Cheers - Howard, Veronica, Caitlin, Nhi and Kelvin and everyone at Colyton Centre Pharmacy

04.01.2022 Ok everyone, lets stay calm and informed! Here are the ESSENTIAL protective measures against Covid-19. WASH YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY. Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitiser or wash them with soap and water. Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands. KEEP YOUR PERSONAL SPACE. Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezi...ng. When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease. AVOID TOUCHING YOUR FACE. Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick. COVER YOUR MOUTH IF YOU COUGH OR SNEEZE. Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately. Droplets spread virus. By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19. SEEK MEDICAL CARE EARLY if you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing. Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other infections. Well be doing a series of posts to keep everyone informed, so check back to stay up to date and share the knowledge! Cheers - Howard, Veronica, Nhi, Caitlin and everyone at Colyton Centre Pharmacy

03.01.2022 PLEASE HELP FIND THIS KIND LADY The family involved in a horrific crash on Mamre Rd yesterday would like to find a lady who assisted, so they can thank her. To the lady who stood by my wife at the accident scene from the start, if you see this, pls be in touch. Thank you. Mark said. ... We’ll spend the night in hospital, perhaps longer. We’ll all fully recover in a few days. We’re very lucky to be here, a miracle really. I really saw the Aussie spirit that day, men and women coming together to assist. We wish those in the other car are doing well. Stay safe on the road guys. If you are the kind lady who assisted (or you know who she is) please inbox Nepean News and they will put you in touch.

02.01.2022 This is Logan. Hes six years old, and you might already know he was diagnosed fifteen months ago with Kawasaki disease. Hes my son, and since COVID-19 really hit this peaceful view is pretty much all we get to see of him or our two girls. We're tearing out the door early every day to work, getting home hours late every night, and even then we're on the phone to colleagues or suppliers, emailing companies to source medication, arranging alternatives when theyre out of stock..., organising telehealth scripts, picking up or dropping off shop items, or running between locations to make sure everyone everywhere gets what they need. Its important, and worth it, and well keep it up as long as we need to. But its hard to keep sacrificing the time and attention the kids need. Its been over a month, and they really deserve a break with their mum and dad, and so the pharmacies will CLOSE Friday for the Easter public holidays (April 10th-13th). Well be back Tuesday April 14th! Stay safe and healthy everyone; thanks for your support and understanding (and yes, we have face masks, hand sanitiser, toilet paper and everything else in stock) Veronica and Howard

01.01.2022 Is it safe to receive a letter or a package from China? YES. You could receive your parcel naked and it wouldnt make a jot of difference, aside from scaring your postman. People receiving packages from China or other affected countries will not catch Covid-19 from this. Coronavirus doesnt survive anywhere near long enough on objects such as letters or packages to be able to infect us after international shipping, so enjoy online shopping to your hearts content! This post i...s part of a series on how to protect yourself from Covid-19, so check back regularly and share the knowledge! Cheers - Howard, Veronica, Nhi, Caitlin and everyone else at Colyton Centre Pharmacy
