17.01.2022 CLEAR HISTORY - an exhibition by David Mckay open today. CLEAR HISTORY will include a series of intimate, largely Australian botanical works that are painted in reverse on perspex. This form of painting has a rich history and is known in Germany as Hinterglasmalerei. In a new and exciting development, the exhibition will also include two recycled cardboard coffins, decorated with McKays unique designs. David believes the way we send off our loved ones is poised for disrup...tion, rejecting the formal, sombre style of traditional caskets, he suggests it is time to celebrate the life and personality of the deceased. Inspired by Ghanaian sculpted wooden caskets and Mexican Day of the Dead, his illustrated coffins show how we can reflect the character, passion and enthusiasm of our loved ones. One of the works on display, Wave Spotting features a glimpse of a left hand break in the Pacific Ocean seen through the coastal landscape vegetation. #art #painting #artgallery #paddington #paddo #sydney #artist
