21.01.2022 I have asked each of the political parties their stand on law and order, particularly in relation to the South Australian Act and Regulations. I will now post the responses that I have had sent to me

16.01.2022 Greens Policy Steve Nicholas [email protected] Dear Steve,... Thank you for your letter seeking the Greens position on law and order, particularly where your party stands in relation to the current South Australian Firearms Legislation and firearms ownership generally. The Greens position on firearms is fairly straightforward. We acknowledge the need for firearms in many occupational settings, particularly in relation to national security, feral animal control and the humane destruction of injured stock. We oppose recreational duck hunting. In other settings, we support strong legislative controls with the primary objective of ensuring community safety. The appalling situation in the USA as evidenced in Nevada last year and in Florida last week, is one we are determined to avoid here. Community safety is our number one priority. That means more controls over firearms, not less. Yours faithfully, Mark Parnell MLC

06.01.2022 Liberal Democrats Please read full response below Policy basics Sport, hunting and self-defence are all legitimate reasons for firearm ownership.... Firearm ownership should be subject to possession of a licence. However, all adults over 18 years of age have a right to a licence unless it has been removed because of a history or genuine prospect of coercion. Those who wish to carry a concealed firearm for self-defence are entitled to be issued with a permit to do so unless they have a history or genuine prospect of coercion. All genuine sporting uses of firearms are legitimate. There should be no registration of long-arms. There should be no prohibitions or special limits on semi-automatic firearms. Individuals and organisations are entitled to establish facilities that involve the use of firearms. This includes shooting ranges and hunting reserves. Impediments to children participating in safe shooting activities should be removed. Airsoft and paintball should be deregulated apart from measures to protect innocent bystanders. See more

02.01.2022 Labor Party Please read full response below Mr Steve Nicholas Secretary... Combined Firearms Council of SA [email protected] Dear Mr Nicholas I refer to your letter regarding the Combined Firearms Council of SA’s request to understand the State Labor Government’s policy position on the responsible, legitimate ownership and use of firearms in South Australia, ahead of the state election. Labor respects the role you play in representing and advocating on your members’ behalf, and in promoting the responsible and safe ownership and use of firearms........ .........The CFC made significant contributions during this process, particularly surrounding the practicality of the regulations for firearm owners and users. The regulations would have been poorer were it not for your involvement. The collaborative process we undertook to deliver these historic firearms reforms ensure that the current regulations do not unduly burden the almost 65,000 responsible South Australian firearms licencees. They facilitate the realities and the needs of firearms possession and ownership while also enhancing community safety. See more
