25.01.2022 When you’ve made an advocaat cake with hagelslag on the edge and you’ve poured out too much hagelslag, the only thing to do is have a hagelslag boterham (sandwich ) for breakfast. I haven’t had one of those in ages. My sandwich is eaten but my cake will be delicious tomorrow when all that lovely advocaat cream has permeated the sponge. Come on in and have a coffee and a slice of cake. We only have 8 days of trading left. We are finishing up next Friday.

25.01.2022 Guess who has had time to play. These are almond filled biscuits and being domed I thought they would make lovely edible decorations come Christmas. I think I’m going to like my new toy. I got myself an airbrush. What a difference putting on a base coat of colour,

21.01.2022 Bike is out so I’m in again. I’ve been busy in my week off. How cute are these little teapot and cup cards? They have 2 sealed little teabags tucked away in them. They are a lovely way to let somebody know you are thinking of them and are looking forward to having a cuppa with them again.

21.01.2022 Pastie day today, or I should say pastie week. Second batch to be baked this week. Come on in and get them. Veggie pasties full of goodness. Pumpkin, potato, sweet potato, carrot, kale, corn and peas. Got to have the peas in them.

21.01.2022 Trying to keep up with the pies. 2nd bake so far this week. Today we have beef, lamb, chicken satay, chicken and veg and beef goulash just baking at the moment. Come in and get some.

20.01.2022 Just giving people the heads up before any of the below photos happens to me due to the difficulties resulting from this virus thing, I’m taking the week off next week. I’m feeling more and more like Jadis and if I eat anymore of my left over food I’ll end up like Violet. I was hoping to hang in there with the shop until the lease runs out but am finding it more and more difficult. It has very much been a place that is visually beautiful but as people are not able to stay and take away is slow I’m just hanging in there. It’s not worth my sanity. Okay, so I was quirky anyway.

18.01.2022 I came into this world of Narnia with Turkish delight and I will depart with it. Only a week to go. A bit of prep done in advance for Monday. Loads of pea and ham soup made and a cherry brandy cake too.

12.01.2022 Come on in. Delicious peppermint slice and walnut brownie available as well as continual tomato soup, satay chicken, chicken and beef pies.

12.01.2022 Come on in and get a delicious, made in store, pie. Beef, beef/mushroom, beef goulash, lamb/veg, chicken/veg, chicken satay and chicken and mushroom. $7 each take away cold. Try some of our precooked veg in jars while you are at it. Beans $2.60, peas and carrots $2.75 and peas $3.35. Easy peasy meal. Or if soup is more your thing, I have lentil this week $6.50 per serve take away cold.

12.01.2022 First week down with no shop. We have shifted so much stuff already. I hoping I’ll remember where I’ve put all my little bits and pieces. My sister asked me today why I was still cooking meals even though I had been so busy. I’m cooking my way through the freezer and fridge. I can’t turn the freezer off until it is a little emptier. Tonight we had fresh red cabbage and apples with cummin and marjoram spiced wedges and pork steaks. That’s a little less in the freezer and fridge.

06.01.2022 This precious little thing is turning 2 on Saturday and she’s excited. I’ve enjoyed my quiet time and being able to be more creative with things other than pies. Monday, however I am open for small groups again. Back to the grindstone for me. We have only one more month to trade before our lease runs out. ( no I am not extending it this time ) If you are planning to visit, book in advance and please be mindful, that as beautiful as it is in my little getaway, if it gets busy and you’ve been seated a while, its good manners to allow others the same experience. 04.01.2022 And that’s a wrap, Key handed in today. The shop looks so much bigger but not nearly as magical. Narnia has definitely left the building now.

04.01.2022 I can’t believe it’s already been 2 months since I closed the shop. Anybody missing me yet? My front garden is loving having me at home. It doesn’t look like a jungle anymore and the painting has started. Gosh even the windows are getting a clean again.

03.01.2022 Day 2 - LAS ( life after shop ) I’m glad I painted shop furniture to match my patio furniture. Perfect, well almost, after just cutting a small opening in the top cupboard for the rafters. Cupboard fits beautifully on the fence and it gave me lots of space for my cups and lots of crystal I have at home.
