It requires connection, because highlighting structural privilege is often perceived by those who benefit from privilege, as an attack on personal accomplishment. The ability to connect ideas to people, within a society, that places ultimate value on an individual’s ability to perform and produce within a capitalist society, requires the communicator to inspire a seismic shift in the framework of thinking. My ability to effectively communicate a divergence of thought from the individual to communal, starts with a 3 step formula: Learning can be uncomfortable. So we must be intentional.
