23.01.2022 Our opinion piece in The Age today...

21.01.2022 What a great opportunity for our local businesses to get involved with this project.

20.01.2022 Today the Victorian Premier has announced that regional Victoria will from 11:59 pm on 16 September, take the Third Step towar...ds COVID normal. The Third Step means the four reasons to leave home no longer apply, but some reduced restrictions will apply to the gathering of people. The graph below details the changes that will occur in the Third Step. COVIDSafe principles will still apply. You must continue to wear a face mask, practice physical distancing (1.5m) & good hand hygiene, don't go to work if unwell, cough and sneeze into a tissue or elbow and outdoor activities are best. 19.01.2022 Hicks transport is a valued member of Committee for Greater Shepparton, and we are saddened by the passing of Brian Hicks. The company through Brian and his son Warren, who was a member of our board, were great early supporters of the Committee and committed to the positive development of the region. Thanks Brian for your leadership, and condolences to Naomi, Warren and Simon and families. His legacy will live on in the region.

18.01.2022 The steps need to balance safety and allowing hospitality (particularly) to open - which we think can be done without an inflexible hard link to Melbourne eradication.

18.01.2022 Love this Dhami Singh - sums up what Greater Shepparton aspires to be - thank you for your humanity

17.01.2022 Great to see the legacy of James continues....

16.01.2022 FEDERAL FUNDING FOR MAUDE ST MALL REDEVELOPMENT The Federal Government is chipping in $8.5 million dollars towards the redevelopment of Shepparton's Maude... St Mall. Currently part of the redevelopment will allow slow moving traffic to enter at Fryers Street and exit at High Street. Greater Shepparton City Council is working with the Shepparton Chamber of Commerce on the final design, it's expected the work will go to tender by the end of the year with construction to start next year. The Council will match the Federal funding dollar for dollar. What would you like to see in the final design?

14.01.2022 $50 million Agriculture Workforce Plan released The Victorian Government is helping businesses in rural, regional and outer metropolitan Victoria to meet their... labour needs during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It’s $50 million Agriculture Workforce Plan assists agriculture, food processing and critical food supply chain businesses with recruitment, case management support, worker induction and re-training and business adaptation costs. Where local people are unavailable, the Agriculture Workforce Plan is supporting eligible businesses by offsetting the cost of accommodation and travel for new employees. It’s part of the Victorian Government’s $500 million Working for Victoria Fund, which helps people who have lost their jobs to find new opportunities. Agricultural, food processing and food supply chain businesses can register their requirements via the Working for Victoria platform and access the talent pools to fill vacant job roles. 13.01.2022 SPECTACULAR SAM! The Shepparton Art Museum is just weeks away from completion and looks set to deliver on its promise of magnificent views across the city. But... SAM's actual opening is still some time away, with on-site inspections and the moving in of art work expected to take a couple of months. See more

13.01.2022 Well done everyone!

13.01.2022 Congratulations Kim and Rob !!

12.01.2022 Tree changers should also consider the Goulburn Valley..

12.01.2022 This is a thought provoking display at Lake Victoria today - black lives matter doesn’t mean that other lives don’t - it is a call for equality, something we should all aspire for. The great West Indian fast bowler Micheal Holding articulates it eloquently - you can find his comments online. Let’s aspire to be an inclusive community - where we can all share friendship, culture and success.

11.01.2022 Thanks for the mention, Deputy Prime Minister. This whole rail project shows the best of our governments and representatives - coming together to create a game changer for Greater Shepparton. Suzanna Sheed, the Victorian government and the Federal coalition all deserve credit for this. Advocacy, planning, building and badly needed infrastructure investment stimulus. When everyone comes together with a focus on delivery great things can happen.

11.01.2022 Congratulations to our elected councillors

11.01.2022 Great to see this fantastic project get underway !!

10.01.2022 News Alert The chief Rocky Gagliardi discussing with THE AGE about the huge growth around the Goulburn valley in the last 12 months

08.01.2022 Agree with Damian Drum - links to CBD via a Tullamarine tunnel critical for the future of regional connections.

03.01.2022 The Committee for Greater Shepparton is calling for the government to be more flexible in its approach to reopening parts of the state. Third Step In the regional roadmap released yesterday, the threshold for reaching the ‘third step’ is that:... - daily average number of cases in the last 14 days in Regional Victoria is less than 5 - there are less than 0 cases in Regional Victoria with an unknown source in the last 14 days This thirds step allows for, among other things, hospitality businesses to open to predominately outdoor seating only. It is based on conditions being met across the whole of regional Victoria. That means that a pub or restaurant in Greater Shepparton might not be able to seat patrons outside even if there have been no cases in the wider Goulburn Valley region for a long period. In effect, a small outbreak in a place as far away as Portland could hold these businesses back, threatening their viability. The rationale for this appears to be that it would be very difficult to administer. It way well be difficult to administer, but so is owning a small business and not being able to open it. The government should be doing everything to ensure that opening of small businesses based on actual risk, and not applying a broad brush to the whole state. The Premier alluded to the possibility of treating different parts of regional Victoria differently in his press conference yesterday we urge him to leave this option on the table. Last Step In the regional roadmap, the last step reopening can only happen after 23 November and is dependent on a threshold of no new cases for 14 days, across the whole of Victoria. This last step enables restaurants and cafés be able to seat people social distanced inside. Our region’s hospitality industry is entirely tied to a very ambitious target for Melbourne Covid cases in Melbourne. We think there is an opportunity to allow parts of regional Victoria open up to this last step, even if cases are still being reported in Melbourne. Whilst we agree with a cautious approach that reduces the risk of further outbreaks and the deaths associated with this, a nuanced and geographical approach to reopening in regional Victoria can manage this risk while protecting people’s livelihoods Given the threshold for the last step opening, our region’s hospitality industry is entirely tied to a very ambitious target for Melbourne Covid cases in Melbourne
