23.01.2022 Today one of our clients Bronwyn who suffers from server social phobia and social anxiety went to Kiama with her support worker Nellie. The day was about having fun, a nice drive down the coast but also to help meet her goal for the year of conquering her social fears. Bronwyn has many complex mental health disabilities that impact on her daily life and until she received NDIS earlier this year she was basically housebound. With the support from the workers at CCCare Bronwyn ...has been to Sydney CBD on quiet days but today she felt ready to face more crowds, Nellie and her went to Kiama during school holidays. They visited the large blow hole with had small crowds and Bronwyn managed them very well when people went near her. After that we had lunch at a small fish and chip place around the coner, while busy the owner was rather rude shouting at everyone and the food was not the best for the expensive price There was a classic Nellie and Bronwyn moment as they were leaving and working our way through the crowd a gust of wind blow the rubbish out of Nellie’s hands sending chips all around Bronwyn who now had every seagull within a 10km radius flocking to get the fallen chips, Nellie gave her the crowd she wanted just not humans.lol They spent the rest of the afternoon walking around a small beach While Bronwyn did not have any strong triggers of fear she managed the day well See more

19.01.2022 Hi I'm Jason Goulding and this is my first time as a Disability Support Worker. I've spent my life as a storeman to a sales clerk and then Purchasing among many other jobs. ... Three years ago I gave up the corporate world to look after my wife , with her many mental health issues. We spent that time establishing a support network and recently we moved from Katoomba to South Windsor. I was given the opportunity to work for CCCARE and decided to give it a go, it is the most rewarding day seeing my client with MS become better with walking and loosing weight to eating better I'm grateful that CCCARE gave me the opportunity and I'm glad to be here.

Currently there is also the extra allowances for job seekers Medicare have also lowered the Fam...ily safety net on prescriptions meaning that once you reach that limit prescriptions are either cheaper or free(talk to your pharmacy for details)(runs from Jan- Dec each year) The RMS in NSW offers free license and car registration renewal to all pensioners (if you are in another state check with your local service for advice) Public transport (NSW) If you have a healthcare card then you can get an opal card that allows you to travel for half price on public transport For Pensioners you can get a gold opal card and receive all your public transport for $2.50 a day in Sydney metro Taxi service you can apply for taxi vouchers for those with a disability(see eligibility) https://www.service.nsw.gov.au//apply-taxi-transport-subsi to travel half price on taxis but there is a limit fares up to $60 There is also claiming $10,000 from your super see ATO website for details Other service and help you can get From St Vinnies, Smith Family and Salvos you can contact them for help with food gift cards at local supermarkets, utility bills and they pay up to $300 a year on bills. Most also offer services such as budgeting assistance Most local Neighbourhood centres off days where they hand out such things as fresh bread and baked goods along with days where the community get together and have either a free or very cheap meal and there is depending on numbers sometimes take home containers Community centres are a good place for getting connected with local services in your community that can help you with what you need

12.01.2022 Statement - support coordination funding https://www.ndis.gov.au//6120-statement-support-coordinati Coronavirus (COVID-19) Media statements 25 February 2021 The NDIA is not cutting funding for support coordination, and it is incorrect to say funding is no longer available for support coordinators. ... Since March 2020, the NDIA has introduced a number of temporary measures to ensure participants have access to essential supports during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This included allowing participants who did not have specific funding included in their plans for support coordination, or those needing to increase their use of support coordination services, to temporarily use other areas of their funding to access support coordination. This measure was put in place to help participants identify additional supports if needed when their supports had been disrupted by COVID-19. This temporary measure was put in place until 28 February. As restrictions ease around the country, the need for flexible support coordination has also eased, as participants return to their usual services or are able to easily find, choose and access their preferred services, as they did prior to the pandemic. The NDIA wants to provide clarity and reassurance to participants that those with support co-ordination included in their plan and budgets continue to have access to this support. For those participants who temporarily accessed support coordination during the temporary period and who still require this support due to COVID-19 disruption of services they should contact their Local Area Coordinator, ECEI partner or planner to seek a plan review or call 1800 800 110 for assistance. Read more information adjustments to COVID-related measures.

09.01.2022 Outing with Nicholas Friday 2.10.20 Today was my real first outing with Nicholas and the plan was to head to Circular Quey look around have a bite to eat enjoy the sun (Not too much) have a coffee and head back. The day started off really well sadly Nicholas’s scooter was playing up so we had to go with plan B which is his general walker. Once on the train and having conversations ranging from bikes to football I made a friendly wager and that is if and only if the Panthers g...et into the Grand Final I shall head on over and watch the match with him Nicholas loves the idea and is now excited and hoping the Panthers get in for me personally I’m hoping the EELS get in. We also took in the scenery as Nicholas loves to talk about his cruise holidays and coffee, we arrived at Central and to his relief a coffee shop was close by while we waited for the next train to circular Quey the best part about this I could see the excitement in Nicholas’s face even with his wide brim hat on he even preyed that no rain was to happen today of all days. Once we arrived at Circular Quey we decided to have lunch at City Café ( side note their toilet is only upstairs) we ordered hamburgers with chips and took advantage of the free water and boy oh boy te meal was huge as you can see Nicholas was enjoying it as per the photo, After that monster of a lunch we took a stroll around the area more photos of the ferries a pose of Nicholas standing proud and his new Yacht lol Sadly time passes quick and it was time to head home the city rail staff were all great in making sure Nicholas was provided a ramp as he was beat and so was I the ride home was quiet we had a few laughs as Im the first to admit Nicholas is really fun to be around and im happy and could see he had a fantastic time See more

08.01.2022 Hi everyone . On average, in Australia 10 people are diagnosed weekly with MS and the quality of life of those with MS is said to be roughly 30% lower than the rest of Australia. These stats are staggering . We have clients with aggressive MS and quality of life is such an important thing to us as service providers, we strive to increase the quality of all our participants lives. And the wonderful Leila-jo has decided to do the readathon to raise money for MS. I would ask that if you are in a position to donate any money, even if it is just a couple of dollars, it may help in finding a cure for this disease.

04.01.2022 COVID normal supports for participants and providers https://www.ndis.gov.au//6107-covid-normal-supports-partic Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic the NDIA has responded quickly to government health advice, implementing a number of temporary measures to ensure participants continue to have access to essential supports.... The NDIA has reviewed these temporary measures to determine what is needed to safely deliver supports and services in a COVID normal situation. Participants and providers in areas where public health orders require personal protective equipment (PPE) while supports are being delivered will be able to claim the cost of PPE, with some changes for provider claiming. At this time, Victoria is the only state or territory with this requirement. Participant access to low cost assistive technology will continue and be monitored as participants and providers adapt to COVID normal. The following COVID-19 supports have been extended nationally until 30 June 2021: COVID-19 positive participants living in Supported Independent Living (SIL) arrangements can access cleaning services and higher intensity support. These supports are also available to participants living in SIL who are required to self-isolate or quarantine. If a participant has a support worker attending their home who later tests positive to COVID-19, the participant can access a one-off deep clean. The provision of a clinical first responder service for SIL providers through Aspen Medical. Other temporary measures will end on 28 February 2021: support coordination line items claimable under a participant’s Core budget support coordination will still be available for all participants who have a reasonable and necessary need for it from their Capacity Building budget direct claiming to the NDIA by providers for disability support worker PPE. The NDIA will continue to monitor outbreaks and may implement new measures if public health guidance changes. More information about COVID normal operations and an updated Price Guide will be available soon. Get all our latest news by signing up to our monthly email newsletter
