16.01.2022 Vale Tim Potter. It is with much sadness that we advise our followers of the recent passing (15th September) of Tim Potter, past President, long time Member and... much respected Judge of the South Australian Branch of the Commonwealth Clydesdale Horse Society, having fought a brave battle against brain cancer for the last 18 months. Tim and his wife Anne were known far and wide as the owners of Rutherglen Clydesdale Stud from Mount Torrens and over the years bred many award winning Clydesdales, showing them both in Breed and Harness and also having good quality stock available for people to purchase . It was through their love and enthusiasm for the breed that Clydesdale horse classes were brought back to the Royal Adelaide Show and local country shows in the 1970's and are still being shown in both Breed and Harness classes to this day. Tim was highly supportive of our South Australian Branch taking the position of President of the Association for many years, he was always happy to step in to Judge when asked, and was a strong encourager for all Clydesdale owners, especially people (young and old) who were interested in the Clydesdale Breed or new to the Clydesdale world and ownership. He strongly promoted the breed and ran highly informative showing, breeding and judging workshops to share his vast knowledge to our members and the general public. Tim was also very strongly involved with local government, Adelaide Hills Associations, Justice of the Peace Association, The Wooden Boat Society and was widely known within the community. A memorial celebration for Tim is being held this Sunday (27th September) at the Bridges Event Centre, 342 Brinkley Road, Murray Bridge at 2 pm and family and friends are invited to attend to pay their respects. 16.01.2022 Update on our Festival for 2021. We regret to advise our Festival we normally run in January will be postponed until further notice. We are hoping we will be able to run it at a later date in 2021. Our committee wishes you & your families well during these challenging times.

15.01.2022 After extensive consideration, it is with much sadness that the Society is obliged to cancel the 2020 Royal Adelaide Show. Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pan...demic, and the current restrictions in place for public gatherings, along with the uncertainty of any timeline around lifting restrictions, it makes it unworkable to hold a large event such as the Show in 2020. The decision not to go ahead with the 2020 Royal Adelaide Show has not been taken lightly. It is deeply disappointing to reach this decision; however, it has been carefully evaluated and considered. It is felt the position the Society has taken is in the best interest of public health and the broader community. The Society will now turn its attention to planning and presenting a fantastic Spring Show in 2021.

15.01.2022 Check out the NSW branch newsletter! Make sure you have a read and take a look at all the pictures at Shows before Covid-19.

11.01.2022 The committee of the National Clydesdale & Heavy Horse Festival regret to advise our 2021 Festival has been cancelled. Unfortunately we are unable to secure a f...uture date at the venue and with the strict Covid Safe Regulations still in place, to safely manage our event with our high number of spectators & exhibitors is beyond our capacity. Our priority is the safety of everyone attending our Festival. Even though we are extremely disappointed, we are delighted to say we will be back bigger and better than ever in 2022. Best wishes to everyone and stay covid safe! We look forward to seeing everyone again and your beautiful horses in 2022. Val Perkins NCHHF Event Secretary

10.01.2022 After being postponed for 12 months, firstly because of severe drought and then Covid19 restrictions, the Qld Branch finally got to hold another training day ...and what a wonderful day it turned out to be. About 60 people - participants, fence-sitters, volunteers and caterers enjoyed a perfect (almost) summer's day up on top of the Great Dividing Range at the property of Joan & Ian Stewart-Koster. The day started early with the assessing of our trainee judges. In the absence of shows this year and next year still a little uncertain, it was decided that, although somewhat unorthodox, it could be done quite as well in this setting as at a show. We thank the three assessors, the three trainee judges and the four handlers who made it happen so professionally. Thank you also to those who helped out washing and plaiting the horses so they were presented as they would be for a show. So many people helped on the day that it would be impossible to name you all but a few deserve special mention. Thank you to our hosts, Joan & Ian, for allowing the use of your property, horses and equipment to encourage others to follow their dream - and move a step or two closer to fulfilling it. Thanks also to Neil Hall, Reg Hodgson and Hannah Willshire who also supplied and supervised horses for use on the day. To Joan S-K and Verna Hall - thanks for taking care of the onerous amount of paperwork, and thanks also to Jake and his team for looking after all the catering needs (the donuts were so good) Huge thanks go to Ian S-K for co-ordinating the whole event and especially for all the time spent ploughing through the tangled web of Covid19 regulations, registering our event with the Health Dept and ensuring we fitted within their rules. And to Hannah - special thanks for the hours and hours of time and work you have put into the horses over the past months to ensure they were at a level to be able to cope with many different drivers. I think the horses did you proud This is a selection of photos taken by Sharyn Hine - they capture the spirit of the day very well See more

04.01.2022 Breaking News: In the best interests of public health, the RNA has made the decision to cancel the 2020 Royal Queensland Show (Ekka). Due to the worldwide coron...avirus (COVID-19) pandemic, taking steps (such as social distancing measures and public gathering restrictions) to ensure the health and safety of the Ekka community and the general public is paramount. It is only the third time in the Ekka’s 143-year history that the show has been cancelled. It previously happened in 1919 due to the Spanish Flu epidemic and in 1942 when the grounds were used as a World War II staging depot
