25.01.2022 DLD = Developmental Language Disorder & 1 in 14 children have it. That’s two in every classroom. Check it out!

24.01.2022 FYI... Snoring and teeth grinding in kids isn't normal. It can be associated with obstructive sleep apnoea and have all sorts of knock on effects. Don't be brushed off by anyone telling you it is okay unless you've had their airway checked out by an ENT (ear, nose and throat) specialist www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/26715296/

23.01.2022 Very excited about the upcoming work in this field. Building a resilient child! https://m.facebook.com//pb.1628254704170/920518031314436/

21.01.2022 A great article for anyone who's child (or partner) mouth breathes, clenches or grinds their teeth http://askthedentist.com/pediatric-sleep-disordered-breath/

20.01.2022 There's been a lot of controversy over this in recent times. Once again, Pamela Snow hits the nail on the head. Can't she just be in charge of how children learn to read in this country! Wish me luck when my own children start school

20.01.2022 Another interesting read about declining literacy levels in Australia. Daily reading to children and talk, talk, talking and we can give them the best start. Oral language skills are a massive precursor to learning, literacy and life! http://www.couriermail.com.au//1f414317433804a3c4b2a69e67b

19.01.2022 Guilty or not? It's fair to say that the young man in the article below did not have adequate support to help him access the criminal justice system fairly. Saw it time and time again in my work with adolescents in the UK and still it goes on. Time for a change!!! https://theconversation.com/what-making-a-murderer-tells-us

17.01.2022 A fabulous quick read about how a child's gestures relate to their language development www.hanen.org/Helpful-Info//The-Importance-of-Gestures.aspx

17.01.2022 The most fantastic news! Clinical trials have begun in the US for this terrible, fatal disease. Hope is a wonderful thing https://m.facebook.com//a.5584260742306/1070457986360786/

12.01.2022 A functional and fun introduction to literacy and numeracy. What could possibly be more motivating than a letter to Santa http://www.essentialkids.com.au//seven-ways-to-make-your-k

11.01.2022 Parents use of phones from a child's perspective. A great reminder of how it impacts our most precious people http://www.kidspot.com.au/the-devastating-effect-smartpho/

10.01.2022 Many children can be missed in the early years of identifying those with language difficulties. A child can coast along until mid primary school until their language level is no longer developed enough to meet their learning and reading potential. Here is list of red-flags to help identify those children. AFASIC is a great organisation! www.afasic.org.uk/recogn/indicators-in-school-age-children/

We hope thi...s will help get the message out into school staff rooms across the UK. Please alert teachers to check the TES! https://www.tes.com//tes-ma/tes-magazine/suffering-silence See more

05.01.2022 Couldn't agree more!

05.01.2022 I might sound like a broken record but if your child snores, grinds their teeth or mouth breathes please get their airway checked! The knock on impact can be massive and is more often than not missed https://www.slideshare.net//what-happens-to-a-childs-brain

05.01.2022 Have had a brilliant day learning more about the Reading Doctor software from the inspiring Bartek Rajkowski. Can't wait to use in the clinic when helping kids learn to read and spell. Love my job! https://m.facebook.com/readingdoctor/

05.01.2022 Startling statistic... The average female will live for 14 years with a disability eg Alzheimer's/Dementia. I'd rather have my twilight years as fun ones thanks! Just in from a fabulous presentation by Dr Nicola Gates. Author of 'A brain for life'. Can't wait to read it and implement the 5 ways to 'cherish' my brain http://www.brainandmindpsychology.com/nicola-gates/

02.01.2022 Exciting times! We're expanding and looking for a fabulous speech pathologist to join the team.

02.01.2022 Want to help your child have the building blocks for reading before they start school? Or are they struggling with reading and you're not sure why? These skills are essential and often forgotten. Here's a great article that explains why and has tips for helping your kids. www.readingrockets.org/helping/target/phonologicalphonemic
