25.01.2022 Thank you everyone who came down and bought a sausage sizzle today or donated money! We had a successful first ever fundraiser! So thank you! Now we can pay for our Unit name tapes and scarves along with paying for our Venturers to attend their first Rover/Venturer activity.

23.01.2022 Two of the Academy’s Venturers attended Mission Impossible 15 today, with Leaders Rikki and Bec, to see what Scouts is all about!

23.01.2022 All set for our sausage sizzle tomorrow! Head down to Maddington Bunnings between 8am-4pm for a sausage, meet our Venturers and of course a good shop at Bunnings! Sausage sizzle $2.50 Drinks $1.50 We’d love your support so we can do more activities and camps! Our next camp will be for our Expeditions Badge, hiking the Cape to Cape!

22.01.2022 Happy Scout Scarf Day! Celebrating Scouting on the anniversary of the first ever Scout Camp back in 1907. The Academy Venturers are still working on buying our scarves and organising uniforms but that doesn’t matter, it’s the spirit that counts!

22.01.2022 Our Venturing Skills Camp in Albany was a great success! First introduction to Scouting and we had a great time bonding as a Unit. The students hiked the last section of the Bibbulmun and into town. Then on Thursday we had a tourist day going to Greens Pool and the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk. Finishing up on Friday learning a bit about the ANZACs and the importance of Albany, including a minutes silence at the Convoy Lookout. Our new Venturers did a fantastic job working together, building resilience, and experiencing new things! Thanks to the Academy staff who came along to help and to those who covered for us back at school so we could go off and have such a fantastic experience! Can’t wait for the next camp!

20.01.2022 3 of our Academy Venturers and one of our other senior students had the chance to meet Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull today at the Hasluck Community Morning Tea. We heard his thoughts on some hot topics and had a chance for a quick photo! Great learning experience and a fun morning out!

18.01.2022 The Communicare Academy Venturer Unit attended the Venturer Remembrance Day Ceremony at King’s Park this evening. It was our first time attending and very special during the centenary of armistice.

14.01.2022 Our Venturers are currently at Gilcreek Campsite participating in their first ever Scout camp! Hopefully, after hiking the last section of the Bibbulmun Track, we will have completed our Venturing Skills Badge by the end of the week! We are having a great time, despite the cold...

13.01.2022 It was a rainy day today and we had to move our team building activity indoors. So we made an obstacle course in the classroom and guided each other, blindfolded, through the mess. No Venturers were injured but Bec’s classroom was very messy, but luckily we cleaned it up after!

12.01.2022 As part of our Citizenship badge we went to the Electoral Education Centre yesterday to learn about the voting process. Very important seeing as some of our Venturers are almost ready to start exercising their right to vote!

10.01.2022 Our Venturers have arrived in Geraldton for a 3 day visit! They’re going to tour around, learn about Geraldton’s history, visit the Pink Lake and the HMAS Sydney Memorial. Our school’s Business Manager Dennis, Teacher Emily and Principal Mike are along with AVL Rikki for the ride. Sadly our Venturer Leader Bec couldn’t make it last minute but luckily Emily stepped in. They’re going to have a fab time!!

08.01.2022 Communicare Academy Venturers are doing their first fundraiser this Sunday! Come on down to Maddington Bunnings for a sausage sizzle and a bit of shopping our Venturers will be working hard to sizzle up a storm!

08.01.2022 Last night we were lucky enough to be invited to Maddington Fire Station for a demonstration on road safety. We joined Riverton and Willetton Venturers to learn about the importance of road safety and the impacts of dangerous driving. Thanks to Sam Southall and Maddington Fire Brigade for hosting us, St John’s for coming out to show us the paramedic side of things and to Welshpool Fire Brigade for joining us and covering Maddington’s call outs while they did the demonstration. It was a valuable experience for our students as they approach driving age and we learned a lot!
