24.01.2022 My latest (ghostwritten) piece for Gemm Learning. It was pretty easy to write this because us Aussies went back to school a month ago.

22.01.2022 Hopefully this isnt a phyrric victory ... well wait and see.

22.01.2022 Have you heard of the term 2e? Discovered it the other month as I was writing a story about educating gifted and talent kids. Thought it was worth a story on its own. This is the result for my client Gemm Learning.

22.01.2022 I've been fascinated with the idea of twice-exceptional learners - who have a learning disability but are also gifted & talent in some way. I wrote this one EducationHQ. Hoping it's not behind a paywall

21.01.2022 Well, this has been happening elsewhere, too ... artificial intelligence taking the jobs of journos. Ive read about AI writing up pretty decent sports match reports. Its fascinating how so many of the commentators about AI claim that our humanity is what gives us the edge over computers/AI, but the line is blurring. And fast ... COVID-19 is escalating the juggernaut of automation, industry 4.0. Im definitely keeping an eye on this!

20.01.2022 Im in the early days of a side hustle teaching English as a second language (online, of course). Heres my blog post for the college I did my TESOL course with.

20.01.2022 My latest piece for Gemm Learning.

20.01.2022 Hmm, teething problems. Googles algorithms made headlines a few years back for racial discrimination. Looks like AI still needs work as this article shows.

19.01.2022 Oh, yes, procrastination ... procrastibaking, procrastigardening, procrastihousecleaning ... Ive indulged in all of those during COVID-19! This piece is very of the times!

19.01.2022 Loving the paid Grammarly app ... its great getting that real-time feedback. Can only keep improving as a writer.

18.01.2022 A space to watch - how local newspapers evolve in these tricky economic times. Would be sad to see their total demise - we do need local news. Great training ground for junior journos to get a taste of different reporting rounds (tho I did my cadetship a metro, I always enjoyed the variety of topics I tackled when I later made a foray in community/local news reporting even as recent as 7 years ago. https://theconversation.com/local-news-sources-are-closing-

18.01.2022 How many variations of MaaS are out there? Ive been ruminating on this one for the past week. Were not talking about mass, a thick, naturally soured milk. MaaS is definitely in transport tech territory - short for Mobility as a Service. I challenged my 12yo to Google synonyms for $5, but it was beyond him (thats ok, it wasnt as easy as it sounds.)... Heres what Ive dredged up so far from the Internet - feel free to add more synonyms for MaaS: * Mobility on Demand (MOD) * Multimodal integration * Multi-modal mobility services * Multi-modal travel * Single mobility services * Integrated and connected multi-modal network of options * Transportation as a Service (TaaS) * Collective and Individual Demand-Responsive Transport * On-Demand Mobility Services * Shared mobility * Flexible mobility on demand * Mobility as a (public) service * Combined mobility * Mobility aggregator service * Micromobility (might be stretching it a bit) Oh, and Im aware that these synonyms arent exactly that; there are differences, but, there may not be a MaaS-ive difference. Probably because, as AusRoads says, theres no single definition of MaaS.

17.01.2022 Helpful knowing what skills could be in hot demand. Thoughts from CEOs of freelancing platforms across the world.

17.01.2022 Hot topic for the times ... this is one I ghostwrite for a US firm.

16.01.2022 Time to do a deep dive into one of my niches - transport tech. Well, the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) or mobility on demand area, to be specific. Ive been covering transport tech for specialist publications, a research centre and a client for the past three years, but itching to know more about MaaS. Particularly now on the very day that NSW schools and workers schlep back to work shunning public transport. Mind you, thats just what our state premier asked them to do - get ...back in your cars. There has to be a better way to get about in our cities that reduces congestion and carbon emissions. MaaS is it, but globally the players are making baby steps ... or so thats my early impression. Decided to bite the bullet and delve into this area as part of the free e-marketing course Im doing through TAFE NSW. I will be sharing content and creating my own. Hope you enjoy this initial four-week info journey. Id love to hear your impressions/comments about MaaS. Is the time right for this tech as we drag ourselves through the coronavirus crisis?

16.01.2022 Now this one intrigued me. This blog writer actually challenged a couple of AI writing engines to create content. The results are a bit raw, and as he says, need work, but not too much. Am I staring in the face of what will replace me as a writer in future years? Hmmm, interesting. What do you think of the results?... https://www.r-bloggers.com/how-to-become-a-data-scientist-/ See more

16.01.2022 Controversial topic, but it has to be said (or written about). My latest piece for EducationHQ.

15.01.2022 Feels strange sharing a story about cutting-edge transport when were pretty much told to stay at home. This is my latest piece for iMOVE.

15.01.2022 My latest co-written story about school fundraising issues ... where this issue pans out with schools going online will be really interesting, too.

14.01.2022 If you ever need to meld copyright-free music with your content, check this one... very handy.

14.01.2022 My latest piece for EducationHQ (sorry if its behind a paywall).

13.01.2022 My latest piece for EducationHQ ... light at the end of the tunnel perhaps for casual, relief & temp teachers?

13.01.2022 Not that it's a bad thing to check out the cat videos every so often in your down time, but hey, this could be useful!

13.01.2022 Lying as a good thing? This one was a fascinating topic for me to ghostwrite for this US-based neuroscience program for people with learning needs.

12.01.2022 Ive been fascinated with the idea of twice-exceptional learners - who have a learning disability but are also gifted & talent in some way. I wrote this one EducationHQ. Hoping its not behind a paywall

11.01.2022 Insightful piece by Stan Grant. Am curious how neoliberalism plays out (or doesnt) post coronavirus.

11.01.2022 Love the line in here that being a polymath (a person of wide knowledge or learning) is a way to future-proof your career! A story for the times ... take care out there, everyone, or should I say stay home!

07.01.2022 Loving the paid Grammarly app ... it's great getting that real-time feedback. Can only keep improving as a writer.

07.01.2022 My latest op-ed for EducationHQ.

07.01.2022 Feeling chuffed (and blessed) to be living in the wonderful Australia that scores 8 on this Social Progress Index. Very worrying about the US, though, with its poor access to public education. Thats just not right. https://www.socialprogress.org/

06.01.2022 My latest piece for the EducationHQ.

06.01.2022 Gotta put this out there ... this is definitely a future skill that will be in demand.

05.01.2022 Putting it out there - an online festival for FREELANCERS! Yes, thats what I do and I love it. https://www.launcestonfreelancefestival.com.au/

05.01.2022 My latest piece for EducationHQ ... mind you, I was up watching this global cyberconference from 10pm to almost 2am on Saturday night to get this news and patter out this personal reflection piece. Die-hard education news hound here.

04.01.2022 Know any video journalists? This might be for them!

03.01.2022 Really chuffed to be co-writing this series on school fundraising for ABC News Online with Vivienne Pearson. Couple more to come.

02.01.2022 Adding 20mins to your work commute slashes your job satisfaction as much as if youd lost about a fifth of your salary! Yikes. When I lived in the mid Blue Mountains and worked in Campbelltown, my commute was six hours a day. I managed to read a book a day AND do some writing, but after three months, I was read to move onto a shorter commute. I was childless then, too. This is a solid prompt for congested urban cities to get a move on their forays into Mobility as a Service(MaaS) offerings. Thanks #Heremobility for the info.

02.01.2022 One of my recent pieces for the community services org, LiveBetter.

01.01.2022 Heres my latest ghostwritten piece for the iMOVE co-operative research centre. This one languished in approvals for a while, but great to see its out there now.

01.01.2022 Former teacher and now author & educator lobbyist Gabbie Stroud raises some important issues in this piece. Was great to quiz her about her recent book, Dear Parents. Really captures the life of a teacher, in the olden days of face-to-face teaching, of course.
