25.01.2022 Just something I saw on the Mackay Conservation Group page and thought others would find of interest. Not sure if it signals anything substantial.

24.01.2022 Satire at its best. Thanks, 730, for this light-hearted but pointed illustration of Newscorps climate reporting.
24.01.2022 We are very pleased to welcome Eyelevel Communications as our newest Organisation Member. When asked why Eyelevel decided to declare, Director Jeremy Richman said: "It is always hard to do comms work for clients who do not share the same values as you. On some issues you accept a legitimate difference of opinion. On an issue the scale of climate change, that is absolutely impossible." Its time for all of us to take a stand and work together to create a safe climate future.... #TimeToDeclare #climatechange #CSR #CorporateSocialResponsibility
22.01.2022 For those who are interested, here are the main points in the ruling against The Australian last week by the Australian Press Council on the opinion article written by Ian Plimer Lets not pollute minds with carbon fears. * There is an obligation in opinion articles to take reasonable care to ensure factual material is accurate and not misleading * There is no proof that the Bureau of Meteorology fakes weather data * Saying there are unsubstantiated claims polar ice is me...lting is misleading * The claim there are no carbon emissions. If there were, we could not see because most carbon is black is deliberately misleading * Potential conflicts by the author (being a director of mining companies) should have been disclosed. A small but welcome step towards stopping utter BS being printed.

20.01.2022 Congratulations to former Newscorp employee, Emily Townsend, for taking a stand against irresponsible and misleading reporting. "I find it unconscionable to continue working for this company, knowing I am contributing to the spread of climate change denial and lies. The reporting I have witnessed in The Australian, The Daily Telegraph and Herald Sun is not only irresponsible, but dangerous and damaging to our communities and beautiful planet that needs us more than ever to acknowledge the destruction we have caused and start doing something about it." https://www.smh.com.au//dangerous-misinformation-news-corp
17.01.2022 We are so pleased to have Blueberry Communications & PR as an Organisation Member of Communicators Declare. Director Laura ABell says the main main motivation for the work Blueberry Communications & PR do is our future generations. "We have spent 20 years undertaking pro bono work for community groups to protect the environment at places such as Beverley Uranium Mine, Gippslands Preserve, our Forests in Mirboo North and others," Laura says. ... "We have worked closely with indigenous groups throughout this time to protect and respect country. Each year we invest some of our profits back into the environment through environmental and animal programs which have so far included the purchasing of forest spaces in Australia and Spain." Communicators, its time to declare! #climatechange #climatecomms #CommunicatorsDeclare #TimeToDeclare https://www.blueberrycommunicationpr.com/
14.01.2022 "I think its more important than ever we use our skillset to promote climate action." "To add a voice for the action toward a lower carbon future." This is why two Communicators Declare members joined the movement - and theyve come to the right place! ... Looking forward to welcoming more members and growing our collective influence on the marketing, communication, media and advertising industries. Lets work together to create a better future for us all! https://communicatorsdeclare.org/join/

11.01.2022 Searing and insightful article today by John Birmingham in todays Brisbane Times We [the media] have made it possible for powerful commercial interests and the political parties they have captured to pretend we are not entering a death spiral. We are, and now we know what that looks like.... But every time a legitimate journalist or editor or producer calls on a denier "to put the other side" of the climate change case they make it so much more likely another half-billion kangaroos and wallabies and koalas will burn next year, and dozens more people along with them. What do you think? Agree or disagree? #climatechange #bushfires #climatecrisis #communicatorsdeclare #journalism #falseequivalence https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au//we-the-media-must-take-s
09.01.2022 We are thrilled to welcome Impact Group International to our Communicators Declare movement! Impact Group was set up in 2015 and only work with clients that have a positive social or environmental impact - and also only work with people they want to have dinner with! Ranya Alkadamani, CEO of Impact Group International said: When I founded Impact Group, I was committed to completely living and working in a different way. We only have limited time and everything I wanted to d...o was focus on where I could make an impact. For me, thats telling the stories of people and organisations that are all working relentlessly to make our world a better place. Communicators and journalists have a massive role to play in helping people understand climate change and tell the story of our planet. We exist to tell these stories and we wont stop. Im declaring this openly, by joining the Communicators Declare movement. Welcome, Ranya & Impact Group Int.! Great to have you onboard! Will your organisation be the next to declare? https://communicatorsdeclare.org/

05.01.2022 This is what we are up against, people! This is why we need as many communicators as possible to call out, and actively undermine, the greenwashing of institutes that are determined to prioritise their own profits over a liveable future. Last month, the API [American Petroleum Institute] unveiled a huge new public-relations campaign, Energy for Progress, that cast its member companies as heroes in the fight against climate change. The campaign, which features images of ha...ppy young people in the woods, accompanied a systematic change in how API described itself. Its leaders now say it represents the natural gas and oil industrywith a big emphasis on the natural. But despite this new push, API does not support a carbon tax or any other policy that would reduce fossil-fuel use. https://www.theatlantic.com//oil-industry-fighting/606640/
05.01.2022 Brilliant article by Mark Ritson in Marketing Week. Its time for the marketing, media and advertising industries to prove they have a conscience and stop allowing fossil fuel companies to greenwash their practices through misleading advertisements. Currently, around 96% of BPs capital expenditure is on oil and gas.... While BPs flashy green hand spends its significant ad budget on green, progressive, happy advertising, its black one is almost entirely devoted to fossil f...uels, regressive practices and climate-destroying operations. BP has continued to do what it is doing with oil and gas not despite all of its green hand waving but because of it. The green hand covers the black one completely. And the dirty business of oil continues unabated. #advertising #media #climatechange #fossilfuel #marketing #fossilfuels https://www.marketingweek.com/marketers-follow-guardian-st/
04.01.2022 Woke up this morning with a letter on my mind. You can sure bet I did not do multiple drafts because this is who I am as a person now, but here goes...hope it ...flows... Hello friend, I see you and your desire to participate. We all crave a mission. We want to be Harry chasing the Philosophers Stone or Moana on a quest to restore the heart. We want to be an Avenger, Wonder Woman, Frodo... We yearn for adventure. We want something to fight for. Theres a whole bunch of us out here trying to reduce our impact on the earth, but we need your help. I see your nervousness...your desire to want to contribute to a better world but not thinking you could make a difference, thinking youll be a target for hypocrite comments. But she needs you, this earth. You were sold a lie. Just like the rest of us. You were told that you needed to buy make up to really accentuate those features and hide those other ones. You were told you need more zero waste products to really give this thing a go. You were told you need to smell like fragrant chemicals to attract people. You were told you need lots of pairs of shoes to go with all your outfits. And lots of leggings to go with all those shoes. You need more books if you TRULY love them as you say you do. You were told your children would struggle without educational toys, on rotation, every two weeks. You were told you need more. We all fell for it. But I think there is a new rhythm waiting for you. And I think you are going to rock it. You there questioning wearing the same outfit to two different events...you look awesome in that outfit. Can you switch it up with a different hairdo? You there feeling guilty that your child is playing with the same old toys...I bet theyd love an adventure in the woods. Stones are magic crystals, that backpack is bottomless, and your dog? Fiercest fire breathing dragon I ever saw! You there looking at photos of spotless, sleek, modern houses...your home tells a story. Those old photo frames hold memories, including that broken one you knocked off the wall when dancing that night. Those notebooks and scraps of paper everywhere...they tell me youre a writer. That dog hair on your couch...it shows me you had many cosy cuddles on the couch with him last winter. Those paint stained track pants give away your secret hobby. The outdated couches are the comfiest around. Your crappy old desk with the scratches all over... look underneath your kids carve their names there when they use it as a secret hideout. Your daughter drew a rocket next to hers because we all know shes headed to the moon one day. Show us more of this, precious person. Abandon the stuff and give us some of you. Show us the watercolour painting youve been working on. Let us hear about your crazy business idea. Tell me again the story about that time you jumped the grumpy ladys fence to get the ball back. You, my friend, would think of the coolest shape for a patch for those holey pants. Star, UFO, baby Yoda? That sports equipment you were thinking of getting to entertain the kids... I bet your neighbours have some you could borrow. Or maybe you could start a neighbourhood sports box of your own. That picture you need to hang? Im sure you could borrow your sisters drill for it. I just KNOW you would be awesome at making a handmade card. You could recycle that coloured paper in your desk drawer. I bet youd make something funny with it. I personally love it when your shoes dont match your outfit. You were always quirky that way. Were here for you. The distractions are many in this world. Lets shed some of them and get real with one another. Lets take back our energy. Lets take back our money. Lets take back our values. Lets build a better world together. Im so excited to see you thrive without the burden of addiction to more. Much love, Your friend.

03.01.2022 Brilliant summary of Newscorps biased and misleading #climatechange coverage this summer by ABCs Media Watch. We need to be able to move beyond coverage like this so we can focus our attention and energy on mitigation and adaptation. #TellTheTruth #TruthInMedia #ClimateEmergency ...
03.01.2022 A brilliant dose of grounded hope and optimism for our future, featuring one of Communicators Declares newest members, 2040 creator, Damon Gameau. We highly recommend taking the time to watch this and getting involved in creating the 2040 you want to see.
