25.01.2022 Communities Tasmania is building world class Education First Youth Foyers in Tasmania. Foyers are integrated learning and accommodation spaces for youth, based on ‘advantage thinking’ models. Thyne House in Launceston is an existing accommodation facility undergoing an expansion, which will transition it to an Education First Youth Foyer model. This expansion will add 20 self-contained one-bedroom units to the existing 30 units to support more young Tasmanians into safe and secure housing.

Eligible participants are: Tasmanian residents; aged between 5 and 18 at the time of application; and... listed on a valid Centrelink Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card (either their own or their parent, guardian or carer’s) or in Out of Home Care. Vouchers can be used toward membership fees at approved activity providers. Both vouchers can be used at one activity provider, or each at a different activity provider. 23.01.2022 Housing Tasmania has recently coordinated the delivery of 28 temporary housing pods at The Hobart Women's Shelter and Bethlehem House. Both projects were funded under the Tasmanian Government’s $5 Million Emergency Homelessness Response, providing quick and comfortable, self-contained spaces for those in our community who are most vulnerable. 18.01.2022 The Tasmanian Government is improving housing affordability by helping those most vulnerable to housing stress and homelessness. Proposals are invited from not-for-profit organisations for the construction of social housing across Tasmania in areas of identified demand. 18.01.2022 In June 2019 the Tasmanian Government allocated $5 million to increase the capacity of our homelessness shelters in Hobart. Through this funding the Government delivered a total of 28 prefabricated short-term accommodation units to help Tasmanians in need. 10 two-bedroom units were installed at the Hobart Women’s Shelter and 18 one-bedroom units were installed at Bethlehem House. This additional emergency and short-term accommodation will help to meet demand while we bring on... line new permanent shelters and longer-term housing stock under our Affordable Housing Strategy. 10.01.2022 TASMANIA REMEMBERS August 15 will mark 75 years since the end of the Second World War. This Saturday in 1945, the Victory in the Pacific marked a time for celebration and elation, as well as deep sorrow as the realisation sunk in.... From a population of just 250 000 more than 30 000 Tasmanians served, with 1 100 losing their lives. Many in the war wouldn’t come home, went missing in action or were taken as prisoners of war. This year we will take time to reflect and remember those who served and those who continue to be impacted by the war. 07.01.2022 'Mountain View' at Goodwood, previously known as the Balmoral Inn, will now provide medium and long-term Supported Accommodation. A contribution of $2.1 million was made available to Hobart City Mission to provide 32 high-quality units for vulnerable Tasmanians in the greater-Hobart area. This existing high-quality facility did not need much work and is set to support people in need over the summer....
