Get In Shape, is a weight loss program which aims to assist community members with health problems particularly those who are overweight and obese to reduce the risk of developing chronic disease such as, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease etc.... "Get In Shape" is targeting the reduction of risk factors by providing local community members with information, resources and programs that will enable them to become healthier and take charge of their health and their future. Community Action Services Australia (CASA) Inc. began on the 23rd October 2008 with a mission to help people and strengthen our community through efficient services and programs to enhance their wellbeing. CASA established a trustworthy and inspiring place for community members to find assistance, services, relief, and answers.... Our management committee and volunteers for the last 12 years have worked hard with a strong commitment to expressing CASA's values (integrity, compassion, respect, honesty, and commitment) in everyday activities. In a transparent manner, it has guided our priorities, initiatives, goals, and actions. Since 2008, we’ve developed the following programs: - Services: Casework, Legal and Immigration Advice, Financial Counselling, Tax Help - Information Sessions: Self Care Matters, Volunteers Training - Health: Fitness in Action, Get in Shape, Zumba, Cardio-Kick, Pilates, Seminars, Cooking Demonstrations. - Community Care: Food Hampers & Cooked Meals in partnership with OZHarvest. - Disability: MS Moves, Embracing Wellbeing, Support Groups (Young Adults with Disability) - Social Change through Creativity: Mother Chef, I am a Woman of Fairfield, My Journey Box, Emotionary, Social Tapestry, We Are One and We Are Many (Drama & Theatre), - Children: Homework Club, Cool@School - Social Events: International Women’s & Men’s Day, Chocolate Nights, Mother’s Day - Outings: Hunter Valley, Floriade, Nepean River Cruise CASA has also worked together with Auspice groups: Women in Action, Fairfield Youth Outreach, FrontLine Seniors, St Johns Park History Group. This year, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected community members, not-for-profit organisations and businesses.
