25.01.2022 Some good work being done down at Yallourn North https://www.facebook.com/yallournnorthvic

20.01.2022 New Basic Courses in Computers and First Aid to start in October. Anybody interested please contact me at the Centre. Murray.

20.01.2022 The township is relatively unscathed by the floods, quite a bit of damages to all farms with the Tambo river running through them, major problems on Bindi Road and a few issues on the Great Alpine Road as well.

18.01.2022 Expressions of Interest Required !!! We've had a query about running a Responsible Serving of Alcohol course. Training providers usually require at least 10 definite attendees before they will travel up here to deliver a course. We only have 4 at present. Anybody out there that is interested please let me know and if we get it enough people we can make it happen, Cheers Murray

16.01.2022 Thanks, for all the new likes everybody. I will endeavour to add more information to the page. Unfortunately too much work for 1 pair of hands at present.

13.01.2022 The First Aid Course set for 30th of September is now full, thanks to everyone for their speedy response to the ads. If anyone was intending to book in and had not done so we are still happy to take your name down though it will most likely be early 2014 before we run it again.

13.01.2022 KARATE FOR THE LESS FIT Swifts Creek Community Centre and the Hiki-te Karate Cooperative are pleased to offer classes in karate for those who are not especially fit and don’t really want to train hard. The training will be similar to tai-chi but our exercises are shorter and easier to learn.... Benefits include improved balance, co-ordination, strength and flexibility Is it real karate? It’s one of the main ways karate was learned before about 1930 it is genuine, old fashioned karate. After about 1930, karate, for most people, developed (or deteriorated) into a competitive, athletic sport. People practise karate for different reasons: fitness, confidence, self defence, meditation. How fit do you have to be? If you can you walk for twenty minutes, then you’re probably fit enough to start. If you have a special reason to be concerned, talk to a doctor about it but don’t let the word ‘karate’ put him/her off. Classes start Tuesday 29th April at 3.30 p.m. The cost will be $2.00 which is to help pay for the hall rental. The class will run for about half an hour. Drop in on the day or call us at the Centre to let us know your coming.

11.01.2022 Our Annual General Meeting is set for Monday the 11th of November ay 7.00 pm, to be held here at the Centre. 06.01.2022 The VicHealth Funded Activity Super Market program is now officially over. Many thanks to the project workers Leanne Stedman, Joanne Smart and Michelle Shaw for their individual efforts over the last 6 years. Thank you to our steering group partners in Swifts Creek, Omeo, Cann River, Buchan and the staff of GippSport. Thank you to VicHealth for funding the program and to all the people who participated in the many activities created or supported over the life of the program.... In the end it was a challenging but I believe ultimately successful endeavour. We will continue to support the Karate and Ballet classes in Swifts Creek out of the Community Centre. All other activities that have been developed such as Stretch and Balance, Circuit Training, Aqua Aerobics, Table Tennis, Walking groups, Lifeball, bike riding groups, gym programmes, swim classes, yoga and anyone else I've missed please interact directly with your current trainer or organisation, as we no longer have a Facilitator employed to co-ordinate them all. Thanks again and Stay Active! Cheers Murray
