21.01.2022 Always Was Always Will Be. As a Yorta Yorta person this means alot , given our peoples heavy involvement in the resistance movement in the 1930s that NAIDOC w...as originally born in. This has impacted us drastically directly to this day where upon where after the Day of Mourning Protest in 1938 which included many amazing Yorta Yorta mob led to our people deciding to walk off the mission in 1939 which resulted in the large present day population of our mob in Shepparton- Mooroopna where I was born, raised and have recently returned to live. My great great grandmother Nora Nicholls (pictured) was the last woman to deliver baby's on Cummeragunja at the time which includes many of our elders still with us to this day. It's always such an evocative thing to think of. And be grateful of how our mob stood up to challenge the shackles White Australia was trying to put on us. It's any wonder many of us Yorta mob can't help but be resistant to the assimilationist drives and wants of the system . It's a core part of many of our identity's and how it was formed. It Always Was and Always will be

12.01.2022 JUST IN: Weve signed a major partnership with the Commonwealth Government and the City of Perth to establish a City Deal driving over $1 billion of investmen...t and unlocking almost 10,000 jobs. A major component of the landmark City Deal is the relocation of Edith Cowan Universitys law and business schools, and our iconic Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts into the heart of our CBD. The $695 million project will form the centrepiece of the Perth City Deal. By 2025 the campus will draw more than 9,200 students and staff into the CBD. The development will create more than 3,000 jobs during construction, as well as over 380 ongoing jobs. The ECU City Campus will bring together programs in technology, industry and creativity, including the WA Academy of Performing Arts, the school of Business and Law and an advanced technology and cyber security centre. As part of the deal, the current ECU site will revert to full WA Government control and ownership and the State Government will now embark on a masterplan for the site. Mount Lawley Senior High School is set to expand into the current Edith Cowan University campus in Mount Lawley as part of a plan to transition the school into specialist performing and visual arts facilities. This will include the school incorporating the world-class WA Academy of Performing Arts facilities. As well as students continuing to enjoy access to the ECU Sport and Fitness gym. The new university will attract thousands of people into the city, delivering a huge boost to local businesses and building on Perths reputation as a vibrant cultural and entertainment district.

In My Blood It Runs is backing the new Utyerre Apanpe First Nations Educators’ Network, supported by our ...key partner Children’s Ground. Delegates from a range of Nations are currently participating in a series of forums, aimed at articulating a collective First Nations education system for Australia. First Nations educators hold knowledge and practices that have been passed on through generations and since before timewe hold the future for our next generations. We recognise our children as being wonderful and engaged learners. We recognise our systems of teaching and education as leading and best practice. We recognise the importance of families and communities in educating our children. Education must be designed by our communities and delivered in our homelands and our communities by our people.
