24.01.2022 Daniel is Community Bike Sheds longest serving volunteer. He was there at the beginning more than 5 and half years ago. In that time Daniel has repaired hundreds of bikes for refugees and others in need. He has taught myself and others about bike mechanics and there have been many stories and laughs along the way. As told by him, Daniels proudest moment was representing North Melbourne at the 2019 Mullet Festival in Kurri Kurri. It truly is a beautiful mullet. Thanks for everything mate!

20.01.2022 In June 2016, Peter Mcguffie (54) was cycling along Barkly street to work when he was struck and killed by a motorist. The motorist then fled the scene on foot. My housemate was living there on Barkly Street at the time. He and his housemates attempted to catch the hit and run driver as the coward ran away. My housemate described to me a horrifying and traumatic scene unfolding directly in front of where him andhis friends lived. Since Peter's death community members have m...aintained a ghost bike memorial in his memory at the spot where he was killed. Thank you to those people for keeping his memory and a reminder of that awful tragedy alive. In honour of Peter's life the Bike Hub has donated $500 to the Amy Gillet foundation who advocate for cyclist health and safety. No more cyclist deaths in our community! One is far too many

13.01.2022 Around 4 years ago, Tom was cycling along the Maribyrning River when he discovered the community bike shed. Shortly after he began volunteering on Saturdays. He liked it so much he also started Toms Bicycle Workshop at his house in Riddells Creek to raise money for charity. In 2 years Tom has raised around $ 20,000 for various charities he supports. 03.01.2022 EDIT: I AM SO SORRY FOR ANY OFFENCE CAUSED. THIS POST IS INTENDED TO BE SARCASTIC! PLEASE READ THE CAPTION ON THE BIKE HUB INSTAGRAM PHOTO BELOW. I am an experienced cyclist with a strong interest in cycling safety and infrastructure. I live in Footscray. I love to ride my bike on Hopkins/Barkly street. It feels so safe to me. It's definitely the main street of a bike friendly electorate. I do not understand why people riding their bikes keep getting hurt and dying on this street.
