24.01.2022 Last week when a COVID-19 lockdown #2 was announced for South Australia, many of us may have felt scared or isolated. The Australian Bureau of Statistics’ National Household Impacts of COVID-19 survey found that prior to COVID-19, one in four of us felt lonely and we rarely, or never, had someone to talk to. But now it's likely to be closer to one in two of us who are feeling lonely. In yesterday's InDaily, our CEO, Kylie Fergusen, talked about how the COVID-19 pandemic has ...exacerbated feelings of loneliness and the important role our Community Centres play in helping people feel connected. 22.01.2022 We are always looking for new and innovative ways that we can engage with you, our valued Centres. We are excited to share with you the development of p...rivate Facebook Groups for our Centre Managers, Volunteers and ACE Providers! In these groups we will be sharing information that is relevant to the group - as soon as we know about something that you need to know we’ll publish it! 08.01.2022 Congratulations to our The Loneliness Cure Award Finalists for 2020! Over the coming weeks, we'll be profiling the final three! Today's profile is on Aberfoyle Community Centre Inc. and Reynella Neighbourhood Centre Inc's joint nomination for their innovative and interactive hide and seek game during the COVID-19 pandemic. The "Where's Ella from Reynella" and "Where's Wendy from Aberfoyle" project utilised social media and email to alert the community that Ella and Wendy were... out hiding. Laminated photos of Ella and Wendy were hidden around the neighbourhood and the first person to make contact with the Centre by sending a photo of themselves with "Ella" or "Wendy" and the location won a $20 voucher. How great is that! We were blown away by all nominations we received for the Loneliness Cure Award this year, especially by the diversity of programs and initiatives our groups are offering to help overcome loneliness and promote connectedness in the community. Stay tuned to learn more about our other two finalists! #CommunityCentresSA #SACommunities #SupportingCommunities #EveryPersonEveryCommunity #CureLoneliness #LonelinessCureAward #LonelinessCure #SocialIsolation #MakeMeaningfulConnections
