20.01.2022 To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Queensland Seniors Week 15th-23rd August 2020, the Museum will be sharing stories, displays, and objects from the Museum th...at throwback to life in the 1960s. On display in the Transport Hall, across from the Morris and Mini Minors is a Vespa Super, manufactured in Italy in 1966 before being exported to Australia. Vespa scooters were initially manufactured in Germany, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, and Spain, and by 1956, over 1 million Vespa scooters had been sold. After being made famous in Hollywood by featuring in Roman Holiday staring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck, Vespas started to be exported into Australia in the 1960s. The iconic shape, with the thicker rear where the engine was located, the thin middle, to the front handles earned the scooter its name Vespa, which is Italian for wasp. This particular Vespa was donated to the Museum in 2012, and was restored by the Museum Volunteers before being placed on display in the Transport Hall. #qldseniorweek2020 #celebrate60years

10.01.2022 Community Connections Co-Founder, Grant Schmidt, put through hotel quarantine hell whilst paying $4000 for the privilege. Who is being held accountable for this debacle? Hotels are designed to accommodate and feed people, this is their core business. Why cant they do this now? Who is really calling the shots here? Someone needs to be held to account! The thoughts and prayers from the Community Connections Redlands Coast Board of Directors are with Grant and his family and all other Australians being put through this hell.

10.01.2022 Todays recipe for Country Ribs come from the chapter called Thrifty Thursday in 4 Ingredients Menu Planning. This cookbook was written with the main aim to ama...ze YOU with what can be made easily on a budget. Country Ribs Serves 4 Ingredients * 1kg pork spare ribs * 2 large onions, sliced * 1 clove garlic, crushed * 1 cups (375ml) smokey BBQ sauce Method Put the ribs, 2 teaspoons of salt, and teaspoon of pepper in a large saucepan. Cover with water and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Drain. Add the onions, garlic and sauce and stir to completely coat. Preheat oven 180C. Line two baking trays with baking paper. Remove the ribs to the baking trays, spoon over excess sauce, cover with foil and cook for 30 minutes. Remove foil and cook for an additional 30 minutes. Serve with Potato Bake and the Oriental Coleslaw. A ...creamy rice pudding is a wonderful, easy family recipe, that can be passed down through generations. Serves 6 Ingredients * cup cooked white rice * 400g can condensed milk * 3 eggs, lightly beaten * cup (45g) sultanas Method Preheat oven 180C. In a bowl, stir together all the ingredients plus 1 cups (430ml) water. Pour the mixture into a shallow baking dish. Place the dish in a larger dish with enough hot water to come halfway up the sides of the shallow dish. Bake until set, about 40 minutes. Optional: Before baking, sprinkle with nutmeg.
