25.01.2022 Last year the CDN committee met with LogoNet - an informal national network of individuals dedicated to fresh thinking about the future of Local Government and community governance, and to promoting innovation in the way local councils go about their business. They are currently seeking contributions to LogoNet 20 Fresh Ideas for 2020, asking the question: "What is the most important innovation or new strategy Australian Local Government should adopt in 2020 and how could this be implemented by Councils?" Provide your feedback by Monday 10 February at: https://logonetdotorgdotau.wordpress.com/

22.01.2022 Hi everyone, please see important update below from LG Professionals WA.

22.01.2022 International Volunteer Day (IVD) mandated by the UN General Assembly, is held each year on 5 December. It is viewed as a unique chance for volunteers and organisations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work among their communities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), United Nations agencies, government authorities and the private sector. The IVD theme for 2019, Volunteer for an inclusive future, highlights volunteers contributing to... inclusion, and Sustainable Development Goal 10, reducing inequality within and among countries. Volunteering provides opportunities for people, particularly those often excluded, to concretely impact their own lives and play a constructive role in their communities by volunteering their time and skills. Through volunteerism, communities around the world often experience strengthened solidarity and inclusion.

20.01.2022 Phases of Recovery: This is an important reminder for all of us working in this space to highlight that while the timing at the bottom of the image is a little off due to the pandemic timelines, the phases are likely to be very real as we progress through the recovery journey over the coming weeks, months and yearsparticularly due to the wider scale of impact and the compounding effect. We are playing the long game here, there are no 'quick fixes', so please remember to take some time for self-care and look after yourself, those around you, as well as the wider community. Resilience, perspective, reflection and perseverance are useful tools to help navigate this journey.

19.01.2022 With the summer heat well and truly in full swing and the holidays close by, we tend to spend more time outside. This festive season we remind you to protect yourself against mosquito-borne diseases. In Western Australia, mosquitoes can transmit Ross River virus, Barmah Forest virus, Kunjin virus and the potentially fatal Murray Valley encephalitis virus. There is no cure or vaccine to protect against mosquito-borne diseases acquired in Australia. The only way to prevent infection is to avoid being bitten. Here are a few ways you can do this. https://youtu.be/3EgFW65teLg
