16.01.2022 NEW TRAIL WALK AT YANDINA CREEK WETLAND Be one of the first to head to the #YandinaCreekWetland to experience the pristine new 1.7km trail walk. It's a water...side, flat walk through Sunshine Coast bushland - perfect for all ages and abilities. DID YOU KNOW? The Yandina Creek Wetland removes about 5.3 tonnes of total nitrogen and 0.5 tonnes of phosphorous each year. It's also a bird enthusiast paradise with a new bird-hide constructed along the trail walk - See if you can spot the more than 100 species in the wetlands!! BLUE HEART Yandina Creek Wetland forms part of the #BlueHeart, an area of more than 5000 hectares of natural floodplain in the Maroochy River catchment, that we’re working to protect now and into the future. We are in a unique position to explore blue carbon opportunities where carbon is captured and stored in plants in the wetland to help reduce the impact of greenhouse gases. The blue carbon stored by the wetland could potentially help offset carbon production from our other projects and business operations. Unitywater purchased the 191-hectare parcel of former cane farming land in 2016 and restored it to a natural wetland to offset nutrients and sediments going into the Maroochy River. EXPLORE NATURE This beautiful facility is the beginning of an environmental hub in this region allowing our community to immerse themselves in nature. Explore the trail walk Spot the different brid species Enjoy a day out in nature Suitable for all ages Sustainable recreation The wetland trail walk is located at 362-328 River Road, Maroochy River. For more information visit www.unitywater.com/yandina-creek The Blue Heart Sunshine Coast is an Australian-first partnership announced last year between Unitywater, Council and the Queensland Government Queensland Environment Department.

12.01.2022 Have you been wanting to try walking? Not motivated? Don't want to do it alone? Why not come along and have some fun and increase your wellbeing! A good walk can do wonders for your mental wellbeing. It improves self-perception and self-esteem, mood and sleep quality, and it reduces stress, anxiety and fatigue. Physically active people have up to a 30% reduced risk of experiencing poor mental health.

09.01.2022 It’s Mental Health Week (10 18 October), and this year the focus is ‘take time for mental health’. Busy lives get in the way of us caring for our mental healt...h, as does a fear of feeling vulnerable should we reveal our mental health challenges. It’s even more important than ever that we take the time to raise awareness of mental health in 2020, encourage people to take care of themselves, and celebrate wellbeing and recovery in our community. Listen to how our Mental Health and Addiction Services staff take time for their mental health, it could be easier than you think! #mentalhealthweek2020 #taketimeformentalhealth
