Hi everyone, we unexpectedly have some blank walls at the café that will need some colour between now and when the next artist is scheduled around Feb/March. Struggling locals turn to the Community Centre for assistance during the holiday season every year and increased need is visible. We are reaching out to locals asking for donations to help this year's Christmas Community Hamper Drive. 23.01.2022 Hi everyone, With new Queensland Government requirements we now have compulsory electronic check-ins at each of our venues using QR codes . Yes, if you don’t have a smart phone or don’t know how to use it we can still record your details with paper, but this does add to the workload of our staff and volunteers - they later need to go back and enter all of that data at the end of each day and it takes them away from other tasks they need to be doing. So for those who have a s...mart phone but haven’t used QR codes or electronic check-ins before, why not come a bit earlier and have a go yourself? It’s actually easier than you think and we have free wifi for anyone who needs to download a QR reader app if your existing camera app doesn’t work. QR codes are likely to be with us for the foreseeable future and by learning this new skill you will actually empower yourself to help staff at all sorts of small businesses in our community. Below is a ‘wikihow’ for those who want to learn more about QR codes depending what sort of phone you have or drop in and, unless we are super busy, our team members will be happy to help guide you through the process. We wish to congratulate those trainees who are finished and finishing and to say thank you for their hard work and the excellent job they have done helping to make the first year of this project a success! 19.01.2022 WERE READY!!! Exciting news! From Monday well be trialling having some dine-in capacity open again! This is limited and will follow the recent guidelines put out by the Queensland Government. Our ability to manage patrons dining-in at a given time will be at the discretion of our shift supervisors and how busy they are so please be understanding if they cant accommodate you at your preferred time. As this is a trial, this is subject to change without notice and we plan to ...make adjustments as we go, so please follow any signs or instructions when you attend. We are hoping everyone will be understanding, patient and comply with any requests so that we dont have to go back to just offering take away only. Please call ahead if you are unsure if well be able to accomodate your group. These include (but not limited to): canned and packet items, biscuits, toiletries, drinks (nothing that needs refrigeration), long life items, kids snacks, gift vouchers etc You can bring donations into LCC or the Community Grounds Cafe. We appreciate the support and generosity of our Community.

Tomorrow is the Laidley District State School Art Show and you can support them even if you cant attend - just contact the school with the name of the artwork and the amount that you bid and theyll make sure you are in with a chance on the night.

15.01.2022 POSITION VACANT Sadly, Bec is leaving us in late October. This means we will be looking for someone to work for us as shift supervisor/barista, at this stage every second Monday and every second Saturday (and option to work relieving shifts when needed viewed favourably). Among other things, the ideal candidate will be reliable, able to supervise trainees, and able to make great coffee. 11.01.2022 UPDATE: Following a break over the weekend, we have now re-opened for dine-in, still following COVIDSafe plans we have been working to. Thanks. To our loyal customers, Out of an abundance of caution, we are going to remain takeaway only and have staff wear masks for the next several shifts until there is more certainty that there has been very little risk of local transmission. Because our weekend trade is mostly dine-in, it is not viable to open this Saturday so we will be closed on the 5th. We will update what our service will look like the following weekend once we know more - hopefully there are no more cases and we can quickly regain confidence to return to business as usual under our COVIDSafe plans. This is subject to change, without notice, based on health advice. Apart from being somewhere for essential workers to pick up a coffee and some takeaway sustenance, we are also staying open for the purpose of accepting donations of non-perishable food that will be taken to the community centre and distributed....
