21.01.2022 Darug, Gundungurra and Wiradjuri country. Using the medium of hiking, CMRC's Hike program has been bringing together young people from refugee background to explore NSW National Parks. The program has been teaching young people life skills, and educating them on Australia's unique environment and landscape, the importance of protecting it, as well as the connection and heritage of Australia's Indigenous people to the land.

16.01.2022 The Hills are Alive with CMRC Hills Connect - Creating Chances - today we had discussions on behind the broken smile, some of the challenging attitudes facing women who have experienced abuse, a part of the 16 days of activism against gender violence. As the Convenor of the Hills Domestic Violence Prevention Network (HDVPN)and the Hills Program Manager, I would like to thank Linda Lemon from Lisa Harnum Foundation for presenting at the session and sharing stories. Women lea...rned to identify signs of domestic violence and the HDVPN, the local services including The Sanctuary and Youth Resolutions and how to access these services and lots of resources. We were also fortunate to have Caitlin Comensoli from Western Sydney Community Legal Centre. Next week - come along to listen to a live performance of didgeridoo and experience the taste of indigenous food, listen and learn about aboriginal life and the Dharug people.

13.01.2022 CMRC Northern Region have partnered with City of Ryde and Common Wealth Bank to take part in the United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. Our team have produced a podcast series with practical information and resources about domestic violence. We have been busy bringing together a team of 50 people to produce 46 episodes in 6 languages! (English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Farsi, Arabic)... The podcasts take listeners through the journey of domestic violence, from the recognition of the situation, to the start of a violence-free life. You will hear how support services help survivors through their challenges, and you will come away with the resources to seek assistance for yourself, or for someone you know! This FREE event is for: Creatives who would like to be connected to a local creative community. young people who would like to get involved in CMRC's new theatre workshops - the first one is happening on the day!!! The gardener - who would like to partake in some of the Happy Hens Community garden activities - make use of old teacups and take home a potted succulent!
