23.01.2022 In these times of uncertainty and individuals struggling through isolation, I encourage everyone to try and connect through voice or video calls and practice mi...ndfulness so we are not stuck in a negative space. Being alone can be damaging and in times like these we need to reach out to our loved ones to let each other know we are not alone. The Power In You Project will continue to support our community as best we can within our current restraints of social distancing. I am open to suggestions on running an afternoon group to help spread the load of people looking for support. 20.01.2022 Today I was totally overwhelmed by the efforts of 20 young leaders from Geelong Grammar that participated in the Lorne 160 where they took turns in running to Lorne and back from the school based in Corio. As a part of their efforts they had to raise money for a grassroots not for profit program in the Geelong area and we were lucky enough to have them choose 'The Power In You Project'. We are so incredibly grateful for everyone involved from the support staff and teachers, ...everyone that donated and the group of wonderful young students who put in the hard work making this happen. Your generosity and desire to make change will help us continue to help individuals challenged with substance abuse issues in our community. From the bottom of my heart I say 'Thank You'. 06.01.2022 As we get deeper into this national crisis and more people lose their jobs we must make sure that we are looking out for one and other. Substance use will not m...ake these times any easier we need to be resilient and stay positive. If you know anyone who is struggling make sure you remind them of their worth, it's important to understand that our day to day challenges are temporary and with the right support networks you will come out the other side stronger than ever. The Power In You project is continuing to support individuals in these uncertain times and we will be running catch up sessions Monday-Wednesday-Friday at 10am at this stage, again I am open to running afternoon or even weekend groups to help support each other. 04.01.2022 As some people are not aware isolation and lack of connection is one of the biggest drivers for individuals with substance misuse challenges, it's times like th...ese when we need to be there for the each other, so with that I am taking all precautions so that the 'The Power In You Project' can still go ahead this week. We have enough space to distance ourselves from each other as a group and our sessions can be ran in an open area. If you are not well please don't put others at risk and stay home. 04.01.2022 Hey everyone here are our times for 'The Power In You Project' over the break which will be ran by Paul Ryan please share so everyone can get support over what... can be a really lonely time: 17th of December: Catch up group from 10-12. 19th of December: Beach games with Reclink 10-1. 23rd of December: Catch up group 10-12. 25th of December: Big Christmas Breakfast at Cloverdale Community Centre. Purnell Rd Corio 8-12.30. 30th of December: Beach Day 10-2. 3rd of January: Catch up group 10-12. 7th of January: Bowling 10-12. 9th of January: Catch up 10-12. The Power In You Project returns on the 13th for the start of Term 1. Thanks to everyone who has supported the group in 2019 and we are looking forward to a big 2020.
