25.01.2022 Competitors and spectators enjoying the solid competition and perfect weather yesterday during the Michael Titley Trophy, Como Croquet Club's GC Club Championship. It was a successful day and all games were played in good spirit. Graeme Broadbent edged out Peter Hamilton for the runner up position, with Alan Sands winning the tournament.



25.01.2022 Como Croquet Club players were successful at this weekend's State Open Association Croquet Mixed Doubles held at Nedlands Croquet Club. Jeff Newcombe (Como) & Megan Reynolds (Bunbury Central) were undefeated winners while Eric Ayling (York) and Kay Swan (Como) were worthy runners-up. Congratulations everyone!

23.01.2022 An update on the lawn renovations at Como Croquet Club: Fifteen cubic metres of sand/loam were spread on Como's Lawns 1 and 2 today. The topdressing will eliminate many of the irregularities in the lawns and the levelling will go some way to fixing up the sloping edges.



23.01.2022 Congratulations to Como Croquet Club members Murray and Antoinette! Worthy runners-up to Tim and Ivan at the State Division 2 Doubles event at the weekend. Thanks to Maggie and the Gosnells Croquet Club crew for their wonderful hosting and a good weekend.

22.01.2022 The Tuesday night group at Como Croquet Club had a Christmas in July celebration this week. Looks like a great time was had by all!

21.01.2022 Competitors enjoyed fantastic weather, solid competition and tight hoops for Como's C Grade Golf Croquet Singles Championship on Sunday 13 September. David Cowley was victorious with Brian Butler securing the runner-up position. The tournament was played in good spirits, and like most events there were some engrossing battles, surprise results, and equally surprising shots. It was great to see some players competing in their first tournament.

20.01.2022 Como Croquet Club hosted the State Association Croquet Division 2 Singles over the weekend. Congratulations to David Squire (Moorabinda) and Murray Fisher (Como) on winning 1st and 2nd places respectively. Thanks too to Jeff Newcombe who managed the event and to all the other volunteers who did their bit during the weekend. Much appreciated!

20.01.2022 Como Croquet Club - lawn renovations update: Pleasing to note the rapid grass growth only four days after 15 cubic metres of sandy loam was spread to level and top-dress the lawns. Regrowth is even evident on the areas where the levelling required deeper amounts of fill.

20.01.2022 More competition success for Como Croquet Club players! The Australia Day AC Singles, hosted by Nedlands CC, was won by Alan Sands with Jeff Newcombe the runner up. Tim Barkes, now an Associate Member at Como CC, won the award for the best placed Division Two player.

18.01.2022 The last sheet of roofing comes off the old southern verandah at Como Croquet Club on Tuesday 11 February. Construction of the new verandah starts on Wednesday and should be completed within a week.



17.01.2022 Murray Fisher and Antoinette Titley on the lawns at Como Croquet Club today enjoying their first game back after the COVID-19 restrictions. Both enjoyed the outing even though their game was regularly interrupted by heavy rain and gusty winds.

16.01.2022 Como Croquet Club hosted the Cambridge Club's 14 Point AC Pennant Team at Como today. As usual the competition was serious but all games were played in good spirit. Como ran out winners 7-3.

16.01.2022 Lawn renovations are under way at Como Croquet Club. The two southern lawns will be given a heavy treatment to remove the deep thatch, while the northern lawns will be lightly groomed following the major renovation done in December 2019.

14.01.2022 Como Croquet Club hosted the Association Croquet State Open Doubles event at the weekend. Congratulations to winners Megan Fardon and Ian Dumergue and to runners-up Sandy Boon and Eric Ayling. Looks athletic!

14.01.2022 Here's Como Croquet Club's, Jeff Newcombe and Alan Sands, winners of Croquetwests 2019 State Open Golf Croquet Doubles, receiving their certificates from Tournament Manager John Doepel. This was Jeffs first ever GC tournament...not a bad result for a beginner, especially as the pair were undefeated. According to Jeff he is now likely to retire from GC undefeated. There were 22 pairs in the tournament which generated many really exciting and tightly contested match-ups. It was also good to see Comos Sharmaine Hawkins, Jennifer Rechter and Peter Pekaar competing in the tournament with partners from other clubs.

14.01.2022 Work is now well under way on the clubhouse renovation and maintenance program at Como Croquet Club. All going well, the works will be completed by early February. The works include; a completely new southern verandah; new gutters and support posts on the northern verandah;... new concrete access apron on the western side of the clubhouse; renovation and repainting of the shelter sheds; and repainting the exterior of the clubhouse. Como Croquet Club acknowledges the support of the City of South Perth for funding and project managing this works program.

14.01.2022 The State Government has ruled that Como Croquet Club and other social sport-based clubs are not to open. Consequently CCC will continue to be closed until further notice. Members are to stay away from the club, apart from a few members who will be working to keep the premises in good condition.... 14.01.2022 The Australian Croquet Association national events are on in Perth right now and Como Croquet Club is one of the metro clubs hosting these events. We congratulate Como Club member Jeff Newcombe - as of today, the Australian Men's Champion! Jeff won from Peter Ross (also a Como Croquet Club member). The Club had success in the Gold Medal event earlier in the week too, with Como Croquet Club's Alan Sands taking out the Silver Medal. From tomorrow until Sunday, the Interstate Cup will be played at Como, Nedlands and Cambridge Clubs. All the best for a great contest Western Australia!

12.01.2022 Gary Phipps(Moorabinda) and Alan Sands(Como) ready to play in the final of Croquetwest's State Men's Golf Croquet Singles Championship hosted by Moorabinda Croquet Club over the weekend. Alan went on to win the event. Good job!

09.01.2022 In response to restrictions on non-essential gatherings announced this week, the Como Croquet Club is now closed until further notice (from noon 23 March 2020). The Committee of Management is discussing if / how we might operate in a reduced mode but, in the meantime, please do your bit and stay safe.

09.01.2022 Como Croquet Club again hosted the Western Australian playoff for the Australian Croquet Association's Bronze Medal Event last weekend. The winner of this event represents Western Australia in the Gold Medal event against winners from the other states in March next year. This year's winner is Alan Sands from Como Croquet Club, seen here with runner-up Eric Ayling. Jeff Newcombe, last year's Bronze Medal winner, is pictured passing the Bronze Medal disc on to Alan. Thanks to everyone who worked to make sure the event ran smoothly and thanks to the competitors for some great play.

08.01.2022 The renovation of lawns 1 and 2 commenced on 16 December 2019. A substantial volume of thatch has been removed. Heavy mowing and grooming will be done today and tomorrow followed by top-dressing and levelling early next week. Lawns 3 and 4 will be verti-mown as part of the overall renovation but will be available again for play at the weekend and throughout the summer while lawns 1 and 2 are being renovated.

08.01.2022 Yvonne, Jenny, Kris and Leonie at Como Croquet Club for their regular weekly golf croquet catch up. Their matches are always friendly, but, typical of croquet, the games are spiced with a healthy competitive spirit.

06.01.2022 Como Croquet Club was well represented at the Western Australian Golf Croquet State Open Mixed Doubles Championship at the weekend. Club members Peter Pekaar and Joyce Carbone came in second and Jennifer Brand and Alan Sands slid in third. Here are Peter and Joyce with event winners Chris McWhirter and Kay Chynoweth. Well done all!

04.01.2022 Congratulations to Martin Clarke and Ross Marshall for winning the 2019-20 AC State Open Doubles held at Como Croquet Club, 22-23 February. And further congratulations to the gallant runners-up Eric Ayling and Sandy Boon. Thanks to all players for participating and to Terry Speers and his team of Como volunteers for running an excellent event.

04.01.2022 Como Croquet Club hosted the Australian Croquet Association's Bronze Medal event at the weekend. A field of strong players battled each other and the heat for the honour of representing Western Australia at the Gold Medal event in Brisbane in March 2020. Jeff Newcombe (Como) won all of his games to take the title from Alan Sands (Como). Well done everyone and congratulations Jeff!

04.01.2022 Como Croquet Club Players enjoying the last of the block round today in the Club GC Handicap Doubles (the Grace Hartland Shield). The results are close and each point will be critical in the last round of the competition as the finalists will likely be determined by hoop points. After the final, the competitors and supporters will enjoy a barbecue on this beautiful spring day.

03.01.2022 Heather and Gary Rodoreda were first through the gates at Como Croquet Club today when it re-opened following the easing of the COVID-19 restrictions in Western Australia. Hot on their heals, but at least two metres behind, were Alex O'Neil and Graeme Broadbent, and all were keen to get onto the lawn for their first games of croquet since COVID-19 restrictions were put in place some six week ago. Despite the stormy weather and heavy rain, the players were thoroughly enjoying the exercise and healthy competition within their respective singles matches. Resumption of play for members at Como Croquet Club is subject to social distancing, health and operational guidelines.

03.01.2022 Congratulations to David Squire from Moorabinda Croquet Club for winning Croquetwest's Association Croquet Division 2 Championship. Peter Pekaar from Como Croquet Club was Runner Up. Kay Swan, also from Como Club, came third and Bev Orsmond from Halls Head was fourth. It was a great tournament, with the healthy competition between the twelve contestants supported by efficient management, delicious catering and perfect weather.

01.01.2022 Como Croquet Club members Alan Sands and Ben Brown are in Melbourne playing off for 5th and 6th places in the National Golf Croquet Men's Open finishing today. Great effort guys!

01.01.2022 Western Australia played Tasmania yesterday at Como Croquet Club in the Australian Croquet Association Interstate Cup event being held in Perth this week. WA narrowly defeated Tas with some great efforts all round. We then had a very pleasant BBQ dinner at the Club together. Thanks Como.

01.01.2022 Competitors and supporters were treated to perfect spring weather at Como Croquet Club during the running of Croquetwest's GC B Grade Singles Championship held on 17-18 October. Como Club's Lachlan Millar was undefeated to take out the title from Forrest Park's Marcus McGavock. The competition for second place was tight with hoop advantage separating a three-way tie on games. Here's Como Club's President Wayne Muller congratulating Lachlan and Marcus.
