23.01.2022 In an exciting development, over the past 12 months, the ACROD Parking team has been building a community awareness campaign designed to reduce the misuse of ACROD Bays in WA. The campaign, This Bay Is Someones Day, is supported by the State Government of Western Australia and seeks to reduce the misuse of ACROD parking bays while highlighting the impact that parking without a permit can have one someones day. NDS and the ACROD Parking Program have advocated for better co...mmunity awareness around ACROD parking for many years based on feedback from permit holders who have experienced the impact of bay misuse. Thank you for your advocacy on this important issue and support for the ACROD Parking Program. We invite you to join the campaign on social media by liking their Facebook and Instagram pages. www.facebook.com/ThisBayIsSomeonesDay www.instagram.com/ThisBayIsSomeonesDay Together, lets remind people when it comes to ACROD Parking, to do the right thing, and park right day and night. #ThisBayIsSomeonesDay

20.01.2022 My name's Jenny McAllister. I've always been interested in fashion. When I had my stroke, I still wanted to wear clothes that I liked. Does anyone relate to ...the frustrations of shopping in a wheelchair? It's a logistical nightmare. There's limited aisle space and dressing rooms which claim to be 'accessible' aren't. That's why I've decided to set up my own small business StyleAbility, which centres around fashion, styling and disability. Now I'm asking VisAbility clients if they can spare five minutes to complete my survey, so I can make mainstream fashion more accessible and inclusive for people with a disability. Here's the survey: https://bit.ly/2Xsj5PX [Three images. One shows Jenny standing with support of a cane, in a wheelchair and sitting down in front of her computer.] #ClothesForAll #DisabilityLife #SurveyHelp #Styling

15.01.2022 From all of us at AGWA, a big thank you to everyone who has supported us, the artists we work with, and our wider Gallery community this year. As we look tow...ards 2021, we also reflect on what has been, the generosity of the community, and how art has played a crucial role in connecting and inspiring us during times of crisis. This work by Humpty Dumpty with Cheeky Friends 2020 is by artist Mandy White, an Aboriginal artist of Yamatji heritage. It is one of 110 artworks acquired so far through the AGWA Foundation COVID-19 Stimulus Arts Package designed in response to the critical hardship experienced by the arts sector this year. Since starting her studio practice at DADAA in 2010, Mandy has become an award-winning artist and a strong role model for artists with disability. She often explores supernatural beings that exist in the Noongar and Yamatji landscape, where she draws on the stories told to her by her mother and family members. She brings her bush creatures to life as cheeky, naughty, sometimes scary, and funny interpretations. We wish you and your loved ones a safe and joyful festive break and we look forward to sharing many new and exciting experiences with you in 2021 Please note that we are closed on Christmas Day and Tuesdays.
