06.01.2022 I will never stop fighting for the security of Australia's maritime industry and Australian seafarers. My Senate committee last year produced a report with a nu...mber of recommendations which was presented to the Turnbull Government for its consideration. We have just received their response. One of my committee's recommendations was that : "The committee recommends that the Australian Government undertake a focussed and targeted review of the Australian maritime industry, with a view to growing and supporting the Australian maritime industry and developing policies that appropriately manage the operation of flag of convenience vessels in Australian waters." The Turnbull Government's response: The Australian Government does not support this recommendation. This is not good enough. I will continue to stand up for Australia's seafarers and the Australian maritime industry and will fight this Government until we can can guarantee a secure future for them all!
