22.01.2022 Trying to get your brand covered in the media? Here is Compass' Senior Account Executive, Liv's top tips for perfecting your media lists. 1. Read Your Target Publications When adding a publication to your media list be sure to read up and get to know what they write about. What are their key themes? Which journalist is the best contact for which theme? Who is their audience? What resonates with their readers?... 2. Go Beyond the Databases Journalist databases are perfect for creating the bones of a media list, but your best resources are your readily accessible platforms. Use LinkedIn to connect with your go-to journalists to ensure you stay up to date with their movements, what they're writing, and what they're engaging with. Twitter is the perfect platform for staying on top of who's who in breaking news and TV. Take the time to follow each major newspaper, editor, news channel and reporter - this is a great opportunity to get on the front foot with editorial opportunities. 3. Spring Clean Your Lists Regularly Do yourself a massive favour by going through your master media least once a week. Making sure to remove any emails that have received bounce backs, adding in any new contacts you've source from databases & social media, and most importantly updating your media lists with any notes you've received from the media eg.
