I also have my Diploma of Children’s Services and a teachers assistant qualification. I am a sports junkie!! I spend a lot of time watching AFL, basketball, cricket and netball. 16.01.2022 Meet our Administrative Facilitator! Hi, my name is Tara Irwin. I was born and raised in the Pilbara and spent over 30 years loving life in the sunshine and red dirt. I loved growing up in small country towns. It always provided me with a feeling of community, and everyone felt like family. After the mining boom hit town, we had the choice to get on board or move on, so I chose to get on board and entered the construction industry. After ten years of FIFO life I met a fabulou...s man, who is now my husband and together we created a very cool little family. We chose Butler to settle down and make a home. It has been three years since I have been working on the reception desk at Compass and it is genuinely the best job I have ever had. I have built some wonderful relationships with the families and have made friendships with our beautiful educators that will last forever. I love being a part of Compass (almost as much as I love Dolly Parton) and I’m sure you all feel the same xxx

15.01.2022 At Compass children will explore hands on, open ended, natural play based experiences reflective of their strengths, interests and developmental needs. Children’s well-being will be paramount as children are empowered to make choices about their lives.

14.01.2022 Merry Christmas to our beautiful Compass family We hope you all have an amazing time with your loved ones and can’t wait to hear all about your adventures in the new year. See you on January 04th when we re open

14.01.2022 Meet our Educators! My name is Kiara. I believe play is an essential part of early learning. Children develop the cognitive, socio-emotional and physical skills they need for life in their first five years. This is why I am so happy to have the privilege of working at Compass ELC, who share this same philosophy.... I started my journey into early childhood education later in life. I worked in retail management until my daughter Aleah was born. During this time off, while I was watching and caring for Aleah, I realised how unhappy I was with my career choice. I completed my Certificate 1V in Education support (Teachers Aid) which gave me the opportunity to work with children with additional needs. I realised that I wanted to further my education and follow this interest, managing and understanding childhood development and in particular emotional development. I am currently completing my Diploma in early childhood education. I completed the practicum at Compass ELC and whilst on this placement, I was offered a position whilst I continue my studies. When I am not at work, our family enjoys camping, 4-wheel driving and exploring our amazing Country. We often spend weekends down South or up North.

13.01.2022 Many of you will have seen the amazing photos on our page and throughout our beautiful centre. We are so lucky to have an awesome educator who also happens to be a very talented photographer. Chad Domingo is the man behind the magic He has a special flare for capturing the innocence and beauty of our children. And in exciting news, Chad has just started up his own business in his spare time Shooting Stars Studio. If you are interested in having some amazing photos taken, Chaddles is your guy

13.01.2022 Every Wednesday at Compass is mud play day!! Mud increases brain activity, physical activity, builds creativity and creates an adventurous spirit. Mud also reduces allergies, asthma symptoms, childhood anxiety and stress. Mud is fun!!!

11.01.2022 Compass ELC operates on the lands of the Whadjuk people. We acknowledge them as the traditional custodians and pay our respects to Whadjuk elders, past and present. We are committed to a positive future for our Aboriginal community. The educators have embedded Noongar language, symbols and the arts into our everyday learning within our 3-5 yr old room.

10.01.2022 We are working a little something into our days here at Compass. The children seem to be really enjoying our Compass Acknowledgement of Country! We are here on Whadjuk land to say thank you to the past and present Noongar people who were the carers of the land before we began our learning journey at Compass. We thank you for sharing this land with us and promise to learn from you are your care for the land, the animals and our friends. ... Here is the land (sweep hand along ground) Here is the sky (sweep hand across the sky) Here are my friends (hold hands with our friends) And here am I (hug self)

10.01.2022 Meet our Director!! My name is Karen Palmer, I have had the joy and privilege of working with children for the majority of my life in one way or another. I have worked as a nanny, nurse, early childhood educator and director of early childhood services. Children amaze me with their passion and zeal for life and also the way their brains and bodies develop. This fascination has led to ongoing studies in brain development and child psychology and every time I finish a course, I swear it will be the last time I study.....it never is!!! There is always so much more to learn.

09.01.2022 It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

09.01.2022 Bacon and Egg rolls for all our amazing Compass Dads!! We hope you have the best day on Sunday

09.01.2022 Some great advice for any of our new parents. And when all else fails, come in for a Compass Cuddle. We’ve got you!!!

09.01.2022 Meet our Educators! My name is Sirjana Kshetri and I am from Nepal. I am the eldest child in my family. My Father is the principal of a local primary school, and my Mother is a local health worker. I completed my high school from the village and came to the city to pursue my Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). In my first year of BBA, I married Bishnu, my husband who was teaching in the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. Then, I moved to Kathmandu to live a married life... and continued with my studies. I was doing my internship in Nabil Bank before we emigrated to Australia for my husband’s higher studies. Before and after my marriage, education always remained my focal point. My dad and my husband always prioritized teaching and learning. I also strongly believe that learning is a lifelong journey. Here in Australia, I had to re-start my education, so I started studying Certificate III in Early childhood Education and completed it in May 2020. I am planning to continue my diploma as soon as possible. I am really enjoying working with the children at Compass, it reminds me of my own childhood education when my parents were assisting me to learn. Children’s happiness broadens my happiness too. Besides, travelling to new places, dancing is my favourite hobby. I also like to learn about the social and cultural life of people from diverse parts of the world. I feel happy to have an opportunity to work and live in Perth which is, for me, not a crowded city but very peaceful and livable.

08.01.2022 Our amazing team at Compass come from all around the world! Zoom in to learn where your child’s favourite educator was born.

08.01.2022 Thank you to all our families that made our educators feel as special as they deserve. Your personal notes put a smile on all our faces and even brought a few tears to the eyes. 01.01.2022 In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.... We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

01.01.2022 It’s even Christmassy in our toilets!!

01.01.2022 Meet our Educators! My name is May and I have been working in the education profession since 2012 in Malaysia before I continued my studies at University. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management in 2016 and have been involved in this sector for about one year. However, the passion to work with children was getting stronger as I knew that I would probably spend my next thirty years working with children rather than dealing with clients in the tourism and hospit...ality sector. It was a big career change, but I feel that I have truly found my purpose in Early Childhood Education. I completed my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care in 2018 and Advanced Diploma in Leadership and Management in 2019. I became an Early Childhood Educator because I love children and l love watching them grow. It is such an amazing and wonderful feeling to know that you are supporting children through some of the most important years of their lives. I love that, no single day at work is the same and I admire children’s honesty, creativity, flexibility and curiosity. Sometimes, I feel like children motivate me to be a better person and that I constantly find myself studying and looking for more answers. Working with children is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world!

01.01.2022 And just like that, it’s Friday! Have a fabulous day everyone

01.01.2022 We had a very special visitor today at Compass.....the Easter Bunny!! The children were so excited when the bunny hopped into the playground with a basket of eggs.
