In this week's news post, we’ve done our best to make sense of some of the mayhem for you, answering some of the common questions we get asked: https://www.compassionatefunerals.com.au/ne/covid-funerals/

16.01.2022 "Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh. There was a pause. "Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.... "No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do." "That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend. "What are you doing?" asked Pooh. "Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either. "But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh." And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right." - A.A. Milne Sending thoughts to those having a Difficult Day today and hope you have your own Piglet to sit beside you

Born with the rare Kabuki Syndrome, Ryder was only 80cm tall and weighed around 10kgs. These statistics do not compare in any way to his larger than life personality, drive and determination. Whilst non-verbal and unable to walk unassisted, he used an iPad to communicate his thoughts and store his photos of the important people and things in his life. He loved going to go to the Broncos footy games, watching replays of footy on his iPad and demanding his favourite TV shows: Peppa Pig, Mister Maker and every episode of Adam Hills Spicks and Specks. He worked out in the gym each week with the amazing team at Holt Bolt, who believe in kids like our Tonka. Ryder you are going to be so badly missed by so many people but none moreso than your family. We thank you for teaching us how to be better human beings and how not to sweat the small stuff in life. You grounded so many people in your short life. Further details are available at the following link: https://www.compassionatefunerals.com.au/fun/ryder-withers/

03.01.2022 Roy Henry BURGIN 29 December 1919 17 August 2020 Aged 100 years.... Beloved, lifelong friend and husband to Winnie and wonderful father to Chris, Ian, Jacqui, Pam, David and Randall; grandfather to Kerry, Malcolm, Jo-Anne, Darcy, Rory, Elliott, Rosanna, Edward, Marina, Timmy and Joel; great-grandfather to Amy, Nic, Andrew, Kayden, Austin and Grace; and loyal and trusted friend to many. Roy was a mentor. He was the ballast and anchor point for the whole family. With his dry wit, natural charm, intellectual views, kindness, gentlemanly manner and humility, Roy was the perfect role model for his family and many beyond it. Roy was always there to assist and help his family throughout his long life. While he always said his greatest love and passion was for his family, Roy also loved the outdoors, the natural world, sailing, gardening, walking, cycling and life. Roy was also a famous storyteller. He could bring any story to life (again and again and just occasionally embellished). But his great skill was in the telling. Anybody who received a letter from Roy felt wiser and richer for it. The staff at Maranatha Nursing Home can attest to his craftsmanship in this area where his storytelling skills possibly cost the institution many hours of lost labour while he regaled the staff with his anecdotes. The huge gap Roy has left in our hearts and our lives, and the hearts and lives of everyone he touched, cannot be described. We will miss you forever Roy. Further details are available at the following link: https://www.compassionatefunerals.com.au/funera/roy-burgin/
