04.01.2022 Kolbe and I were having a staff meeting yesterday morning and we decided that all work and no play makes for a dull life. Then we discussed how tempting it is to crawl into bed when its wet and cold. Kolbe pointed out how important it is to honour your physical need for sleep or rest. So we renamed that activity afternoon honouring Self time. Did you know an afternoon nap is like a mini reset for your brain! ... Little gardner cells in your brain come and prune unneeded neural synaptic connections and scavenger cells sweep them away making for more brain space. Your memories for the day are transferrrd from your working memory to your long term memory (hence why babies need to nap to continue to learn and grow). Its ok to nap if thats what you need. Maybe your brain is just full? But set an alarm or youll be enjoying infomercials at 2 in the morning! Then we got onto the topic of play. Play isnt the same as it used to be. We used to get all dressed up and go meet friends for chat but while we cant go out at the moment, we also now dont make as much effort to look our best. We noted however, that weve discovered a few different ways to play that feel just as good as the old ways and made a company directive that we should do more of this each day. It was a pretty intense meeting and so director Kolbe rewarded all the staff here at Soul Healing the day off! His motto is - Every day make sure you work, rest and play. That way at the end of each day and of course, the week youve lived a relatively balanced life. Kolbe asks - How do you work, rest and play each day? And if your struggling to play, hes got some pretty good ideas on what brings him joy every day. Need some help with that? Feel free to ask Kolbe a question and hell give you the benefit of his wise guidance!!
