21.01.2022 Many of us go through days without checking in with ourselves to see how we’re doing. Emotional ignorance can sometimes be a survival tactic at a specific moment, but it’s a very unhealthy habit to continue in the long run. One of the best ways to stop this habit is by giving yourself quality time. It should leave you feeling clear and present in the moment. Giving yourself small daily doses of quality time and practicing self-love can really help foster healthy self-esteem. ...We can define self-esteem as the positive attitude we have towards ourselves. It encourages us to think, feel, and act in the most self-satisfactory way possible. Some simple practices of self love include: - Figuring out your strengths and weaknesses. We're all limited edition and constantly changing, so we’ll never stop discovering new things about ourselves. - Accepting yourself unconditionally. Accepting yourself means acknowledging yourself. Doing it unconditionally means doing it no matter what our limitations are and what situation we’re in. - Paying attention to your needs. It’s impossible to be healthy and happy without paying attention to what you need, whether physically or psychologically. Start by setting aside part of your day to check in on yourself. Time to ask yourself how you’re doing, if you’re on the right path to achieving your goals, or if you need a short break to disconnect from the jumble of thoughts piled up in your mind. It’s about giving yourself time to relax and find peace.

13.01.2022 When a foreign invader infects the body, the immune system must identify and destroy it to halt its progress and potential damage. This isn’t as simple as it sounds. See, viruses and bacteria can fly under the radar, poorly detected. But, these invaders have molecules called antigens that mark them out as abnormal: think of these abnormalities like a key. The human body has sleuth-like cells that hunt these antigens down. Once found, they attach an antibody: think of these li...ke a lock that fits the antigenic key. When the antigen-antibody complex is generated, the infective agent becomes much easier to identify. This complex prompts other immune cells into action, leading to a targeted immune response to eliminate the threat. It also contributes to immune memory creation. This is where sufficient sleep comes into play. Enhancing sleep quality helps the antigen-antibody complex and other immune cells to find each other. Slumber also elevates immunological memory, allowing recognition of this foreign invader on the next exposure, leading to a speedier response. Easy ways to help you prioritize sleep include: - Creating a night time ritual - Make your bedroom a sleep santuary (no screen zone) - Act on your own belief...sleep is your very own life elixir. Start to believe sleep is important. Once we believe in something, our actions generally follow suit.

08.01.2022 Research shows that people who already experience overall higher levels of gratitude in their lives are likely to experience less depression, greater well-being, and more social support, among other things. Gratitude (as a trait and a practice) may be particularly helpful for people who have experienced serious traumas, like natural disasters and combatsuggesting that now might be a particularly ripe time for incorporating more gratitude into our lives. Knowing that science... supports the idea that gratitude is good for us is one thing...but sometimes actually integrating the practices we know are good for us into our lives is easier said than done, especially when you’re in a low-energy or high-anxiety place. The really nice thing about gratitude is that it’s incredibly low-effort, and the barrier to entry is nonexistent. There’s no special technique to learn and no serious time investment. Try one or more of the following practices for a few weeks, and see how it makes you feel: - Start by thinking about it once a day: reflect while you’re doing a chore or routine that you do every day. - Keep a gratitude journal: You can do it a couple of times a week or every day. A couple lines will suffice. - Tell people, thankyou: The most effective expressions of gratitudethe ones that make both the thanker and the thanked feel good Cultivating gratitude can start tomorrow, Robin Stern,

07.01.2022 You're on your computer for 8 hours for work. During your breaks you're probably looking at your smart phone. After work you’ll watch a movie on TV. And if you’re anything like the average human being, you spend more than 7 hours a day staring at digital screens. Technology through screens contain the capacity to help you in so many facets of your life, but it can also be detrimental to your health. And yet, even with all of this new information about how screen time can hurt... you, it can still feel really hard to limit or even keep track of how much time you spend looking at a screen. Here are a few tips on how you can control your screen time usage, or keep track of it at the very least: - Set limits through your screen time settings (It allows you to see where you're spending time each day and lets you set limits on your screen time) - Turn off unnecessary app notifications - Switching your phone from a color screen to grayscale (a great way to discourage yourself from staring at it.) - Delete the apps that take up the most screen time for you - Stop taking your technology to bed with you And if you're not sure whether or not you have a healthy relationship with digital screens, it might be time to start looking out for signs that you're using your phone too much.
