Beau has a complex intellectual disability that has made it hard for him to develop relationships with people and engage in activities. Beau has started to race cars in a club this year with the support of a worker. Beau got an award for the most appreciated driver with over 200 votes from other drivers, club volunteers and club members, below is what they have told Beau at the awa...rds night: This was awarded not for the fastest driver, Not the fanciest car, But to the driver who insists in helping set up, Stays back to help put everything away, Is always there to give a hand to other drivers, Give a hand to anyone through the club, The most cheeriest- nothing is ever a problem. 13.01.2022 One in five Australians are affected by mental illness, yet many don't seek help because of stigma. This World Mental Health Day make a promise to shed a more p...ositive light on mental health. Our promise? To continue opening conversations and helping people feel more confident to stand alongside someone who is struggling - no matter how long that journey might take. What is your Mental Health Promise? 12.01.2022 https://themighty.com/20//bbc-down-syndrome-a-word-series/ In 2015, less than 3% of movie characters were people with disabilities and none of the characters were in leading roles. We are pleased to see this new show delivering on increasing representation and diversity both on and off-screen. As Mollie Miller, a contributor to A Mighty Voice explained 'If people with disabilities are not adequately present in our fellow humans’ daily dose of media, then we are not approp...riately seen or understood. When a person is not seen, they cannot be invited into the offices, the homes, the events, the critical conversations and relationships and that means fewer perspectives and more silenced people.' We couldn't agree more. Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.

11.01.2022 People with disability want to be treated like everyone else and we at Complete Nursing & Home Care recognize this above everything else. Today is the International Day of People with Disability and CNHC wishes to acknowledge and reinforce our commitment to helping people with disability lead meaningful lives. #SeetheAbilityInDisability #IDPwD!... https://www.abc.net.au//international-day-of-peop/12942446

10.01.2022 It is hard to believe that only one year ago on the 2nd of September 2019, Complete Nursing and Home Care opened its doors in Tasmania. What a year it has been setting up a new office and establishing CNHC in the Tasmanian community. Dean says it has been a roller-coaster of a ride with COVID-19 pandemic and drumming up a new business, however, Dean and his team have taken on the challenges and came out on top growing from a tiny shoebox office to their new home with plenty ...of room to grow. His team has done a great job getting to know the local participants and family members, offering great services, looking for new opportunities, and demonstrating a commitment to continually improving their approach. Dean would like to thank his team, from our support workers, and of course his right-hand woman, Fiona for all her hard work and commitment. He cannot wait to continue the journey with everyone as Tassie continues to grow in leaps and bounds. Tassie Branch Manager Dean Pitt, and Accounts Manager Fiona Rodrigo in the picture.

06.01.2022 Should disability support workers wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)? If you are working with people with disability, continue to practise good hygiene wearing gloves where required, washing your hands frequently and so on. There is no need for disability or health workers to wear surgical masks unless you are working directly with clients or patients who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. Further guidance on the use of surgical masks is on the Department of Health website. The full alert can be found here: https://ndisqualityandsafeguardscommission.cmail19.com//1F
