18.01.2022 We are certainly facing some challenging times with the COVID-19 virus. It has, in some way, effected each and everyone of us. Even though students are not at school and possibly doing home schooling in term 2, there are a variety of real world activities that can be done to enhance their current understandings of various topics. I will post some ideas over the next few days and you can put them into practice straight away. Keep safe everyone!

We would like to offer something special for new clients through this period while some students are doing learning at home and others doing modified learning at school. 02.01.2022 **Home Learning Activities - Cooking** There are a range of different activities that you could do with your child or children in the kitchen when cooking. Please feel free to explore the following ideas and adapt them to suit what you are making: Junior Primary:... - Order the measuring cups and jugs from biggest to smallest. - Give simple instructions to follow when tipping, pouring, mixing, mashing etc which also supports gross motor skills and active listening. - Understanding safety and food hygiene through discussions. Primary and Middle: - Students to read recipes and follow sets of instructions which are sequential. - Guess quantities and weights of ingredients - how far off were they? Calculate differences. - Double and triple recipes and calculate new ingredient list - good for parties when you are catering (Once isolation is over). - Price up ingredients using catalogues or online. - Research alternatives for various ingredients. - Understand and implement proper food hygiene. - When baking, calculate the volume and capacity of dishes to make sure what you are cooking will fit.
