If you have or know of suitable country in South East Queensland and looking for professional grazier tenants that care for people, land and livestock give Greg a call on 0447 121 305. 14.01.2022 Popplewell Eureka 17-023 (Polled). His first Eureka line (just 25% Indicus - 4 breeds) sons will sell this year as semen tested ready to work yearlings around when he himself will just be 3 years old. Our early age of puberty is turbo charging our program to make even faster genetic gain with less generation interval lag than any other tropical beef breeding program in Australia.

14.01.2022 Rising 2YO point of calving heifers. Woodford #EarlyPuberty

01.01.2022 STRONG SIGNALS CONTINUE FOR WIDESPREAD RAINFALL FOR NEXT 6 WEEKS. Modelling largely unchanged for the next 6 to 7 weeks. A strengthening signal for rainfa...ll this week is likely to be the beginning of a wet face across part of central and eastern Australia. Probably not the news that a lot of farmers out there want to hear, but it has been well advertised on this page that the rains are coming. The video below is from now until 15 November. We have a La Niña event in the Pacific, warmer than average sea surface temperatures around a large part of Australia and the development of a negative Indian Ocean Dipole. All the climatic drivers are in phase to bring widespread rain to the nation, and now this is being indicated in the short-term modelling. Over the next fortnight, we should see a marked increase in rainfall for eastern Australia, particularly Queensland and adjacent inland areas stretching down into Northern New South Wales. This will be thanks to the wind shifting into the east, pumping moisture in for the Coral and Tasman seas. Moisture from the tropics is expected to increase significantly over the coming four weeks, in line with the seasonal shift over northern Australia. Inland low-pressure troughs thanks to increasing heat values, will be the lifting mechanism for showers and thunderstorms to develop over wide areas of Central Australia. The moisture from this activity will also feed into southern and eastern Australia. For South Australia and Western Australia, widespread thunderstorm activity is expected to be the feature for the next 4 to 6 weeks near inland troughs, with out of season low pressure systems developing along troughs from time to time. We are losing the westerly influence over southern Australia, which will see that shift for more widespread rainfall over inland areas, and for systems not to move so quickly from west to east. I have attached the GFS extended rainfall outlook accumulation for the next 35 days. The European and Canadian models are very similar in widespread rainfall potential. The threat for flooding is increasing for inland areas as we tracked through the next six weeks. Coastal areas can take a bit more rainfall, which is thanks to a dry spell. Again the only caveat I place on these long-term models is that you need to cross check and reference the short-term deterministic and ensemble data to confirm rainfall trends. From my post earlier in the week, you can see that there is widespread rain in the next fortnight which supports these outlooks.

01.01.2022 Photos of weaners by Popplewell Transition and Pathfinder Line sires back in May. Part of a Genomic program we are running at at Bow Park, Julia Creek.

01.01.2022 I’m guessing this 12 month old Popplewell Transition Line Bull will pass his semen test tomorrow with flying colours...
